Hey Streets; Thanks for your reply , I understand what your saying, I'm trying to save as much as possible, too I do not sentd out anything that I'm capeable of , after all why should I pay some one what I can do , that way i can have more to spend on the parts I need. , does this site have spell check ?, maybe I'm asking the wrong one about that. I appreciate this and any info , looks like this can be a great source of info and it's got motor heads on it so it can't be all that bad. Thanks Skiballskiball

Re; Glass Bodies
Bib;
Thanks for the Welcome and the good info, I'll check out the show me site, as you said the only draw back is not seeing the body in person . Your in Jonesboro, do you know Ken Spargo ?
The So-Cal frames are reallty nice but I wasn't sure on the step frame, looked like another place for dirt to collect. I like running the wiring and sometimes the fuel lines inside the frame , but it's a lot of additional work. Your Body (the car ) looks nice what is the red stuff on the floor and the trunk ? What color have you decided on, Engine , Trans? Radiator shell /Grill ? does anyone know about the fella named Jim Rench , he builds grill inserts. who all makes these thin grill shells that I see on a lot of the cars. ? When do you start you project ? Have you built any others ? Thanks again Skiskiball

The red stuff is a reinforcing material. It is like a heavy fiberglass mat that they bond in. Gives the floor some additional strength.
I like the nostalgia look. So I painted the body, frame, and grille shell John Deere Blitz Black. Looks like primer but it is a finish paint that seals out moisture.
The running gear, engine, and transmission are DuPonte ChromaColor II Chevy engine orange. I like red. But everybody else likes red, so I went with orange.
I did use a lot of stainless in my chassis; steering arms, spreader bars, king pins, tie rod ends, and like.
The SoCal chassis is perfect for the nostalgia look. The step boxing gives the appearance of an unboxed frame. If you go with SoCal you should use their complete package; front hairpins, rear axle, rear spring, and ladder bars. Shipping from California to anywhere east of Arizona will be a consideration. Get a quote before you order.
If you are going for the slick look you may prefer another vendor.
American Stamping Company (ASC) in Olive Branch, MS makes the side rails most chassis shops use and they will also sell direct to you. They also offer a crossmembers and boxing plates. If you ar handy with a welder you can save a grand or so by stitching it together yourself. And a bunch on shipping too.
And if you want to run your plumbing inside the rails GMT/Lime Works offers boxing plates with access panels.An Old California Rodder

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
