    Tight Lower Rad Hose Space?

I don't know, but this looks awfully tight.

Does this look typical or worse than usual to ya'll? Will a Cool Flex make the bend(s)? Pinched front rails not helpinh here

    Thanks for your time, Kitz

theirs ways around it , i you got some old hoses with tight bends and cut them and tape them together to fit or can bend up a hanger wire to match it then take that to your local auto parts supplyer the can try to find a hose with the correct bend and tight curve to fit what you need. they usally have tons of hoses in stock just to find the right one.
i needed a really tight weird bend for the bottom rad hose on my bucket and was able to find one this way. i had to buy 2 differnt hoses for mine and put a split them and put a connector in beteen to get the perfect bend and fit
    good luck

you can get a90 bend header tube steel and get it coated or ss and use strait hose on the ends BUT there needs to flex with the engine. or like said go looking at hose and you may have good luck finding something done that many times and made all the bends out of aluminum tube and then polish it if you cut out a 90 out of the hose keep the number so if some thing happens you have the number

Jon, not sure if this pic will help, but maybe with explanation it will.

First my personal bias. I really dislike the corrugated "universal" hoses. We call them donkey dicks. The chrome ones are fancier versions. But that's just me. As a result, I do the extra step to find a molded hose using the piece of wire pattern thing mentioned above.

It just so happens I'm at that point on the '36 roadster and the pic shows what I ended up with. I take my pattern to the parts store and they turn me loose on the wall racks to find what I want. Sometimes it takes a while, and you need to "train" your brain to view portions of hoses with the knowledge that you may be cutting away a good sized chunk, or perhaps some of each end, to get the portion that meets your needs. This piece will lose the upper half or so to fit. The inner spring that prevents collapse will be shortened as I believe they're necessary even as short as the hose will end up.

    Edit note; completed image attached.

I can't tell from the angle of your picture where your rad lower stub hits. I looks like it's pointing straight into the edge of the damper. If that's the case, you may need to get a 90* outlet put on there first to replace that straight one. If it will clear the damper (including the thickness of the hose), then something like what I've got here could work for you. Molded hoses have some ability to flex without collapsing, though not much.

    Talking Tight Fit!

I had the same problem with my 29. I tried every rubber hose I could find cutting them down to length, splicing and twisting to get them to fit only to have the hose collapse under pressure. I purchased a Coolflex radiator hose (part number FX1019) and made it fit.

    Hope this helps

My '32 has a pinched frame and things were tight. Coolflex hose solved the problem--a little pricey but it worked well for my application.

I have a small block 350 and walker 4 row and got the coolflex to fit but man it was tight and had to twist it into an S shape. You have a big block so might be very difficult. Good luck.

    Thanks for all your replies.

I thought I would have to fab something like nitro there but Summit started carrying Cool Flex under their name (it appears anyway). I picked up a 12 inch stainless bellows hose pretty cheap and tried it; it worked great! I think now there is probably a factory or repro rubber hose that would work as well (as seen above).

    Regards, Kitz
