Still it's fun to hear some people are still lucky and win cool stuff! It's fun to see some of these older posts. Would be nice to see a follow up photo!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

How luck you are!
I won the duece roadster give away car at the Shades of the Past/Pigeon Forge in September. Built by Bobby Alloway, it has the best of everything with 350 crate motor & TCI 350 tranny, Steve Holcomb leather interior, Pete & Jakes parts - etc, etc.
With a value of over $64K US I have to pay federal as well as state tax, plus I had to pay the sales tax to get the title transfered.
Being on a fixed income of social security and a small pension, I have to sell the car just to pay the taxes! The first couple days we were on cloud nine then reality set in. It's been more of a nightmare rather than a dream. Now I know why they draw so many numbers at the NSRA Nationals before someone steps forward for the giveaway car.
There is no such thing as a free lunch! At least in the USA.
Good luck with yours and I hope you have many many enjoyable miles.

Excuse the mess in the garage. When the pic was taken I had just torn down my utility shed and hadn't found room for all the stuff.

Before the negative starts about inactivity. Let me explain.
Prior to my post above, my last post was my intro in 2004! Shortly after that I had bout with cancer and a computer crash and lost everything. S-l-o-w-l-y I've been catching up on the sites I had in my 'favorites'. Now that I've found the site again I'll be around a lot more often.

Man thats just not right, having to sell something like that. I got to thinking about that and what I would do if I won a Duece Roadster. The more thought I put into it the worse my headache got. Now that could be partly the problem of me giving anything much thought. But if you think about this, hell I might have to sell it as well.
Car valued at $65,000, so that would be added income of $65,000 on top of what ever else money you made that year, or a total tax hit of around 30 to 35% or so around $19,500 to around $22,700 bucks add to that sales tax. Here in Bama thats low at 4% but if you lived in lets say California it could be 7.25% to a over 8.5% in same parts of that state that could be another 5 or 5 and a half thousand dollars. So now were looking at close to $30,000 just in taxes. Yea i would sell it Too.....

Given today's market where run of the mill glass '32 hiboys struggle to sell for north of $25k, and often less, a "winner" could end up upside down if all the wrong circumstances piled up.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Well I guess I'm the lucky one, I won a Debbie Boon album off the radio back in the 70s and didn't have to pay a red cent. Any way sad to hear that free aint free and in these times you may only break even.
