Great news and MORE great news :)
I am back - did you guys miss me at all ?
I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE!!
I took my little primered roadster to the Primer Nationals two weeks ago. I figured, what the heck, why not? I was not aiming at winning, just wanted to attend, contribute and get my feet wet. Turned out I got a little more then my feet wet... It was more like a FULL IMMERSION BAPTISMas I took FIRST PLACE in my class (???????????????
) - That was a real surprise and really exciting! I was asked to move the roadster and park it with the other 6 winners and then we (the 7 owners) were asked up on the stage and received our trophies... While hotrod magazines took photos... that was pretty exciting! I was so surprised and so happy !!
- My first hotrod, my first car show and a first place! Gives a brand new meaning to the expression "beginners luck" !! See photos here: http://www.bettatalk.com/first_car_show.htm
WAIT - THERE'S MORE EXCITING NEWS!!!
Today I was able to reach the guy who actually restored/ built this rod (Eric Koceja ) and we talked for the first time. Imagine my excitement when he told me that my roadster was sitting on a 1932 original frame!! I had been told by the guy who sold it to me that it was a reproduction frame with reproduction body. So now I come to find out it is an original Ford Stamped rail that Eric boxed and crossmembered himself. Furthermore I was to find out that my grill shell is also from 1932... I loved my roadster before but now I love it even more (well, duh!). Despite the fact that my body is an early Wescott glass body, the fact that I am sitting on a real 32 frame would mean that my car cannot be tagged as a "kit" car now, am I correct? It is not an "all original" obviously, so how would I best describe it if someone was to ask me at a show?
