Talking Great news and MORE great news :)

I am back - did you guys miss me at all ?

I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE!!

I took my little primered roadster to the Primer Nationals two weeks ago. I figured, what the heck, why not? I was not aiming at winning, just wanted to attend, contribute and get my feet wet. Turned out I got a little more then my feet wet... It was more like a FULL IMMERSION BAPTISM as I took FIRST PLACE in my class (??????????????? ) - That was a real surprise and really exciting! I was asked to move the roadster and park it with the other 6 winners and then we (the 7 owners) were asked up on the stage and received our trophies... While hotrod magazines took photos... that was pretty exciting! I was so surprised and so happy !! - My first hotrod, my first car show and a first place! Gives a brand new meaning to the expression "beginners luck" !! See photos here: http://www.bettatalk.com/first_car_show.htm

WAIT - THERE'S MORE EXCITING NEWS!!!

Today I was able to reach the guy who actually restored/ built this rod (Eric Koceja ) and we talked for the first time. Imagine my excitement when he told me that my roadster was sitting on a 1932 original frame!! I had been told by the guy who sold it to me that it was a reproduction frame with reproduction body. So now I come to find out it is an original Ford Stamped rail that Eric boxed and crossmembered himself. Furthermore I was to find out that my grill shell is also from 1932... I loved my roadster before but now I love it even more (well, duh!). Despite the fact that my body is an early Wescott glass body, the fact that I am sitting on a real 32 frame would mean that my car cannot be tagged as a "kit" car now, am I correct? It is not an "all original" obviously, so how would I best describe it if someone was to ask me at a show?

Way too cool. I like the nostalgia look - without wandering off to the "rat" look. Some people know the difference.

Why are you surprised that your car won.........it's a really right car. It's obvious even in the pictures you have posted, this is a well done car. Has all the elements.

Yep, noticed your absence, thought you might have gone back to "brand X"

Congratulations!!! It is always more enjoyable to win when you least expect it. One suggestion I have would be to take a rag and wipe the dirt and junk off your tires after you arrive, the car looks much nicer with clean tires then dirty ones. With a fenderless rod the tires are as much a part of the "look" as any part of the body, I have to do the same with mine and it does let the true "look" of the car come out without the little distractions.

It's a HOT ROD,,,,there will always be questions is it glass or steel,,,usually if they gotta ask,,,they don't have a clue.

The car is well constructed and looks great,,,,congrats on your win at the primer nats,,,,,now all ya need is that FULL IMMERSION BAPTISM (mother nature style) and you will be a hard core roadster pilot!

I have thrown in a photo of my roadster,,,,

BTW,,it's an old Wescott body also,,,HRP

Nice can we see a photo of the back seat please I see it wraps around the body in the back...

I notice my doors no longer align with body at the bottom (warp) - have you experienced that problem? They do close very nicely though, but there is now a gap towards the bottom.

Rain feels like bullets at 70MPH, especially when it is severely chopped. These coupe guys with a/c and stereo have no idea the fun they are missing out on.

I'll post a photo of the seat when I get home,,,and yeah,,,,I have the same problem,,,,You just need to add body shims,,,between the coul or the leading edge of the door,,,HRP

Dave,,,the mrs. and myself drove almost 90 miles in the rain thru the Blue Ridge mountians,,,,,the really rough problem was some idiot haulin' his show boat in a sealed trailer was afraid to drive over 10MPH!

With the roadster throwing water off the rear tires and his trailer creating a vortex,,,,we looked like drowned rats when we arrived in Piegon Forge Tenn.

Did I buy a top after that bath without soap,,,nah,,,I'm the kinda guy that believes roadsters don't need fenders,,,or tops and most roadster owners are not equiped with a lotta brains,,,, HRP
