Cool Valve Covers on the cheap
My car had a pair of those 69.00 finned valve covers on it when I bought it... it also had a cheapie open element air cleaner on it, and I bought myself a new Moon finned oval air cleaner for Christmas, and was going to save up for the 220.00 matching Moon valve covers to go with it... I was surprised to discover how nicely my "cheapie" covers matched the air cleaner, so I had a buddy make me a set of decals with an "Ansen Equipped" logo i stole from a T-shirt I saw on ebay. These covers were originally made by Ansen years ago, but never actually said Ansen on them...the molds have since been bought by someone else. I tried to style the logo to look like something from "back in the day", I think they look pretty cool, and didn't cost me a nickel... in fact, I think I'll hold off on changing the valve covers for awhile. Whaddya think?Last edited by joeybsyc; 01-06-2007 at 11:33 PM.

Lookin' good Joey, you've been doing well sprucin' up the girl. The head light setup really set the tone.
Now...............get rid of that ribbed tickler radiator hose! With a little effort I'll bet you could find a nice moulded hose, or two, that will improve things in there.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 01-07-2007 at 08:34 AM.

Looks real sharp Joey. I'm with Bob on the radiator hose. You've got a great looking engine.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Trust me, i think the ribbed hose sux too...I recently won a nice used chrome CoolFlex for the upper hose, i just am reluctant to install it now, because I'm still speculating on if i can live with the engine driven fan instead of an electric... I KNOW an electric would be better, but if it will survive without one, i hate the look fo electric fans... anyhow, i figure i'll have to take the hose off and drain the rad to change the fan, might as well drive it with the ribbed hose a bit and see if the fan needs changed... rather than do it twice. I also got a full chrome plated HEI distributor cap too, those 2 things should really dress up the top end of my SBC. Anyone know if a coolflex fits on a SBC waterneck without using any neoprene "reducers"? They look a little iffy to me... would rather not use em if i can get away with it.
