FYI..... LED bulbs won't work very well with the side mounted bulbs as the LED's don't put out much light to the side of the bulb.
Most of the light from LED's comes straight through the end they're very directional

NO LED lights in these ... the photo clearly shows a regular style 1157 or 2057 bulb.

These things are BRIGHT ... way brighter than the conversion I made 15 years ago. I also use the halogen bulb from Bob Drake ( in the old conversion too ) ... couple the halogen bulbs with the new tail lights ... they are really bright ... and the new ones allow the red light to show larger in the lense .. the area behind the lense is a good bit larger than the old style housings ...

The original style one only light up in the center open part of the rubber gasket ... the new ones light up the entire red lense brightly.

    So Deuce,

Will these work with my rumble seat set-up?

Note: Now that I painted my tail lights gloss white, they look pretty bright . A lot brighter than before. I also I removed the devil tail lights I put the glass lenses I was given when I bought the car.

You can see my repairs here:

The tail light repair is at bottom of page (most recent repair)

Deuce, thanks for posting the pic with the lights lit and disassembled.

Easy to see why they're so bright.

I'm curious if your original cut-down lights are easy to reach so you can pull the socket to change bulbs?

I attached a pic to show how tight it is in my Wescott bodied 32 as far as accessing a side-mount bulb goes.
Is a gennie Deuce a little roomier in this area?

(I Know, the car is filthy . . . gets dirtier sitting in the garage than it does driving around. )

If I can find some time I have a selection of different taillight bulbs and a bus bar setup so I can light em up four at a time.
I'll post some pics when I can.

One other thing I've noticed, gennie 39 taillight glass has differing levels of dye or however the glass is colored.
Some of the ones I have are very light, some are close to what the re-pro market offers and some are very dark.

I'll give some of them the light bulb test as well.

The taillight housing shown has been sectioned to fit and the bulb goes in from the rear as normal.
Side mounting strikes me as way more convenient.

They are easy to change ... I made them right handed and left handed ( the new ones come that way too ) ... Just flip the rumble lid about 3/4 of the way open, reach in and pull the socket . Mine fit about as close as the ones you are showing. I see where you have a ground strap mounted to the tail light housing.

The new tail lights even come with the sockets having a brass leg to attach a ground wire for the non steel applications ...

Look closely at the socket on the 48 Chevy light ( the one with AFO under it ) ...
and you will see the leg tap made to the socket ... for a superior ground.

Yeah . . . sometimes I end up in the pic as well.

Here's a pic of the 32 all cleaned up.
Fillmore 4th of July car show circa 2004.

And another couple of pics I don't think I've posted here before.
    One of my favorites.

Route 66 - The Mother Road - and points north in Sunny Arizona.

And parked on the same two laner a little ways south....
