Happy Sweet 85 Bill Hines!
Eighty five and still sharp as a knife, Bill Hines arrived at his surprise birthday party in a cool red custom cars of his. The usual cigar hanging out of his mouth, he signed autographs for 3 hours straight, taking breaks only to take a nibble at his birthday cake.
How do I know? Cause I was there. Things have a strange way of working out and so it was that I went to the Grand National Roadster Show. And while there I went to the hall of fame gala luncheon. There I striked a technical conversation with a man who was filming, picking his brains about video gear etc... Turned out he is part of the George Barris team, so I he introduced me to George, who then invited me to an MTV shoot at his Kustom Kar shop. There I met young Masterson, who is Bill Hines apprentice. Masterson introduced me to Bill's son, Mike and Mike then invited me to Bill's surprise B-Day party.
So next thing I know I am swimming amidst a large number of hotrod legends, custom cars, mercs, and other awesome creatures, flame throwing monsters lead sleds and other mind blowing Kustoms. Oh, plus a couple of LA roadsters Hiboys (complete, with club plaques in the back)... Come to think about it, that's the first time I actually see them.
Everyone there was very nice. No egos or anything of the likes. I also met Doug Dorr, a cool pin striper and filmed him at work. He even ended up pinstriping Jeff's 47 plymouth headlights as well as his big scoop air filter cover. Came out real cool... the filter cover was my idea, I talked him out of a billet one and he got the round one with the two scoops (you know, they look like flying saucers), sorry don't know what year/model they are but I do know they look awesome pinstriped. So now his car looks good under the hood too!
Anywhoo, it was a great afternoon at the park and I made many new friends. The most awesome part is seeing Bill, now 85 and still working on cars!
Him and I discussed chopping hiboy's trunk and adding big fins in the back, as well as double headlights in the front. We are then going to lower it, put some hydrolic sytem on him and flame throwers... yeah... That's my next move on this hotrod ... Oh just pulling your legs you guys! Although on second thoughts...
Anyways, I was honored to film Bill's B-Day and hope that many more will follow.
Signing off, your 'never a dull moment' little hiboy girl.FAITH

Is that a knife he is using to cut the cake or a lead paddle? Now there is a master craftsman!

A man was watching his wife as she prepared to fry sausages in a pan. He noticed that before placing the sausages in the pan, she always cut off both ends, threw them away, and cooked only the middle...
