    Sanderson Headers

I am posting these for Jack but thought someone else might want to see the measurments.
    Jack,
Here are the pics I took.
I measured my body and it is 47.5" wide at the widest spot and as you can see in one of the pics the body over hangs the frame by almost 2" on each side.
Note that the pipes are short so I dont have the fastned to the frame and they are on a angle as is the motor.
I have seen longer ones that come back to almost the rear tires on a3W and they fastend them to the frame and that pulls them up off the road about an inch.

    Jim,

Thanks for the measurements and the photos. It looks like the collector and the extension flair out at a small angle. I was hoping that was the case. My '34 body is the same width at the widest point. It looks like there would be body clearance.

My big concern now is the rear pipe. The '32 has a flat firewall. The '34 has a kick-out towards the front, and the front pipe would clear the body by about a half inch. (I mocked it up with a wooden header flange and come 1-1/2" PVC pipe) I suspect that would cook my paint.

I'm also concerned about the ground clearance. This car is LOOOOWWW. I may need to change the front tires to bring it up a bit.

I suspect I'm going with the block huggers for a while rather than put out the $$$ for some custom work. Thanks again for helping with the decision.

As an afterthought, I wonder why Sanderson doesn't give the collecter/extensions about a 3* kick-up in order to compensate for the normal down angle of the motors.

Jack, Sanderson will custom make headers to whatever specs you want. Dan sent them a drawing for his headers on the 455 Olds, and they custom built them to clear his cowl steering and all that stuff. Price was not bad either, and they were terrific to work with.

I just had my Limefires custom done without the downtube for the exhaust pipes, and they were very accomodating and did it perfectly.

    Just a thought.

    Don,

I may do that. A version of their CBR100 may work with a small amount of modification. I have my wooden "manifold" and some PVC pipe to mock it up. A fenderless lowboy just screams for outside exhaust.

Here is a preview for you. These are Jaysters, but modified a little for clearance and for the 455 Olds, but basically what you are getting. You are gonna love em, they are a work of art.

We modified a set of Sandersons for my LS1 Studebaker and as others said, they were great to work with. They understand hot rodders. They sent me a box of scrap bends and tubes while we were modifying, and then once we were done, I sent them back to be coated and they had them back to me in less than a week. I am a Sanderson fan!

Ah, I didn't see the downtubes in the pictures. Aren't we like little kids at Christmas when this stuff shows up? Can't tear the boxes open and get them bolted on fast enough.

When we bolted Dan's on, a friend and his wife were there, and all us guys were standing around ooohing and ahing, and she thought we were all nuts.

Give me a UPS incoming box and I am set for the rest of the day.

BTW............is that a BLOWER manifold we see in the pictures? OOOOOOOOOOH.
