Upholster...leather or ultra leather?
I am getting close to upholstery time in my 30 Brookville roadster with a rumble seat. Would it be better to use leather or to have the interior done in ultra-leather? Which will hold up the best over time considering being a roadster & exposure to direct sunlight at some hotrod shows? I've heard there is not much difference in price. Which would you select to use and WHY? Thanks for the advice.

Not leather--not on a roadster. I would use a high quality vinyl that has the look and feel of leather (Allente for example). Don't use the Ultraleather brand as it is too thin and will not hold up well (I don't know if you were using "ultra-leather" as a generic term for vinyl or not). Personally, I don't like what leather looks like after several years of use so I have always used vinyl for my interiors. When I sold my roadster, the ten-year-old vinyl interior looked as good as the day I picked it up from the interior shop.

Use a good quality marine vinyl. It has great colour hold out, and it doesn't care about getting wet.Old guy hot rodder

I'll echo what others have said, don't use "ultra leather". I have a friend that is a professional uphulsterer and he HATES ultra leather, says its thin, stretchy, and doesn't hold up well at all. Marine grade vinyl is the best, because it wears like iron, doesn't color fade in the sun, and won't dry out like leather. Plus its available in virtually any color you can imagine. Mine's done in bright red marine vinyl, and so far I love it.Joe Barr

My ProStreet 55 Chevy was marine vinyl. EZ to keep like new.
The 32 Roadster is black leather & have had no problems w/ it. It's been installed since 2001.
We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
