Thread: VIN ID number on a 32

I think a few members misinteperted my intentions.
Fact.
Car body is repro RodBod steel- not vintage.
Frame is TCI, not a vintage w/ any Ford factory numbers on it.
I know where Ford stamped the numbers. That's where the builder attemptd to stamp my frame. I'm aware of the difference in number stamps= especially the 1's & 6's. This was stamped w/ a set of stamps we all probably own. Nothing special.
I called the builder & he says they do it all the time- either stamp the frame or attach a tag. I called RodBods & got same story. Says as long as you have documentation- you are set.
All I'm trying to do is find out what others have used for ID tag. I'm not trying to pull a fast one, I'm not trying to re-stamp an original frame.
My car is documented & inspected. I just want the numbers more clear since the powdercoat filled in the stamped numbers.

....check out the ones @ www.midwestearlyford.com .... when the site comes up click on the middle catalog for '32 Ford, then put 'patent plate' & '32 Ford' in the search engine & it'll show one just about like the one Duece posted but it has a place at the top where a trophy company can stamp the serial numbers.... I ordered two of them for my '32 @ $10 bucks each. I'll put one on the firewall & I'll hide another one on the body or frame somewhere. Although I've never been pulled over in my '32 my thinking is it'll just make it easier on the police. I have a license, insurance & my registration is in order & my numbers are stamped in the frame but are REALLY hard to read due to the oil & dirt build up that fills up the letters {there even hard to read when the car is clean}. Not to mention the fact that the stamping is under the exhaust & we all know how hot headers get! Even though I'm not happy when I get pulled over I still don't want a cop to burn his hands trying to read the numbers. So I'm certainly not trying to pull a fast one, I'm just tying to make it easier to see the vin numbers...... BillLast edited by billlsbird; 07-30-2007 at 09:50 PM.
