'32 Lower Dash Extension?
Does anyone know if there is a commercially available lower extension panel for a '32 dash? Mine's fiberglass, if that makes any difference, although I don't think it should. Just looking for a little more room for A/C outlets, ignition switch, plus it will better hide the A/C/heater unit.
Thanks everyone

Don't know where to buy one, but they're easy to build yourself for a fiberglass dash. Make a pattern out of some plywood, use it as a mold. Use some of the Green 3M masking tape all over the plywood, it will act as a mold release, then a couple layers of matt and a couple layers of cloth and you'll have it....Oh yeah, a bit of sanding and final shaping, then mold it in with more matt, cloth, and resin to your existing dash..... Make it unique, something you like that does what you need it to do instead of just another store bought bolt on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I grafted a Gibbon extension to an Outlaw dash, and it was a lot of work. I probably could have done one from scratch just as easily and a whole lot cheaper. Get some 1/8 inch foam core board from an art supply store and use it to build the template. Then do what Dave said. I like the foam core for relatively flat pieces because of it rigidity.

Roddoors makes one out of ABS plastic. The bottom of it is deep enough to extend back to the firewall if you wanted to cover up everything under the dash. You trim it to fit. www.roddoors.com

You could check with..
Harwood. Last time I checked, I didn't see it on their website. I got a really nice one for my car a few years back from them. Good quality & nice lines.

A suggestion - don't post EXACTLY the same question on two popular web sites(i.e. Hotrodders.com??). You will tank your credibility.Dave

Ireland's Child, please elaborate on your comment. Unless there's some rivalry between between users on different forums, I'm afraid I don't get it. I thought I'd get a larger response (i.e. more ideas) by posting my question on a couple of forums.

Please don't consider my previous response as a flame job - it wasn't meant to be. Credibility - that is asking several forums, especially in the same time frame, for answers is not the best way to get gracious responses as most of us here subscribe to the other, (and more) as well - as they are two of the largest on the net. And yes, I did it before I realized that folks subscribed and posted on both and got reminded. There are valid responses here and hotrooders.com as well.Dave

In terms of asking questions on multiple sites I wonder if it isn't more of an etiquitte issue than credibility. As for me this is the only site I spend time on.

Why not post on one forum and if no answer or just a couple, give it a week and try another forum?
So far, I haven't had to make a second post, but that's probably cuz the questions I ask are pretty simple....C9

I am currently a member on three sites, and I have not yet posted the same question on more than one. Like C9x, my questions tend to be fairly simple, sometimes so simple that on one of the sites, the question would probably get hammered unmercifully. The only good reason to post on more than one at the same time would be so I wouldn't forget where it was that I posted the question. With my memory, that could work out the best.
As to the question, all of the above answers could be good, depending on how skilled you are. I need to extend my dash as well, but being a Wabbit dash it would probably be best to construct one out of wood and then varnish it to match. Considering my woodworking skills, I'd have to farm that project out. I really like the dash and console treatment done by Lynn (rumrumm), but don't think I have the room for the console tower.Bob
