Looking for a few ideas for paint
I am building a 32 HiBoy. The frame and body are in primer and getting close to paint. I am running Ford smoothie wheels, and it will also have a Sid Chavers Boptop. I am just lost at what color to use....I know I dont want a Yellow, black or red car Prefer a solid color..little or no metalflake. maybe of I found a killer combo and 2 tone paint job.I have been looking at a dark blue....
Anyone with any pics or ideas?
Thanks,
Scott

Fellow who lives near me has a dark green with gold wheels and trim Hiboy ... looks different
It is very difficult to come up with something that looks good. Most two tone paint jobs only work on a " newer Style " 32 Ford build.
Go to this photo site ... click on Ford ... then 1932 ... then Hiboy Roadster and there are over 1100 photo images there ... but most are red, black or yellow

I like a dark blue, maybe a bit of pearl in it for some nice hi-lites???? Blue and white is a nice combination, or maybe blue with a dark charcoal or silver as an accent color?????

Didnt Ford have an "Blue" color they used on their cars built during the 30`s?

How about using a rich "ivory" or Cream" color. It would give you something nostalgic looking, to go with the wheels. Just make sure it isn't too white. Then nobody would notice the color.
It would also work in a two-tone with dark blue....or a deep aqua blue. If you wanted it to look early fifties, use solid colors. If you want something late fifties/early sixties, use a metallic blue or aqua.

Don't like black?
Jazz it up a bit & keep that nostalgic look.

The Ford blue you're asking about is called Washington Blue. Looks especially good with cream color wheels and pinstripe. If you would like a blue with more "intensity", yet still in a similar tone to the Wa. blue look at 08 GM chip chart. I've seen some Saturns running around with a blue that just pops without being gaudy.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Both were custom mixed---But I do have the formula's for them.
The first does not have the violet tone that washington did and the 2nd has a Black side cast to it.

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
