32 windshield frame
I need opinions on a chrome Trautwein windshield frame. I understand his frames are as good as you can get, and was wondering if the chrome plating is quality work as well. Can some of you that have bought these frames give me any advise here? I can have a frame chromed locally, but don't exactly know how good a job I will get here. I understand installing the glass is a pretty difficult task on the 5 window frame as well, and I'm concerned that I may damage the plating if it isn't done well. Thanks

It is the best repro part for a 1932 Ford I have ever seen.
You can buy one for less money than have a qaulity place rechrome the original. I have rarely seen a original 32 Ford windshield frame that was not pitted down inside. Factor in the money you can get for your original and you will be money ahead by buying the Trautwein.
And this is coming from a fellow well known to be against most repro pieces on a 32 Ford.

I do have a " FEW " spare pieces ... but ...
1932 Ford windshield frames ... not so many.
I have been a 32 Ford owner for over 30 years.
I have been involved with a half dozen or so 32 Fords ( working on other's projects ) that needed a better windshield frame.
I always went with the Trautwein ... ALWAYS.
The only one I had a little trouble with was a 1932 Victoria. The fit was NOT good. I could not understand the lousy fit until I tried a " original 32 Victoria " windshield frame in it. The fit was lousy also. The Victoria showed no eveidence of prior damage or repairs. It just fit lousy the day it left the factory.Going 33 and 1/3 rpms in a IPOD world

Deuce, I know you've been involved with '32s for decades, since joining here last summer, I've found and read most of your posts hoping to gain a little bit of knowledge myself. I also have your Deuce 'journal' from another site saved for reference and read a lot of your posts there. I wasn't slamming you at all, I admire you for your dedication to the '32, and my remark was just a little jab of humor to the King of Deuces.

No slam taken ... or offense ... I took it in a humorous way.
Just explaining HOW GOOD the his repro pieces are. I would have absolutely NO PROBLEM using one of his windshield frames on my cars.
I am going to sell a good bit of my stash off ... in the future ... WHEN and IF ... the economy picks back up.
I am not going to sell it in this depressed market.

Interesting tidbit - Trautwein is only about 25 miles from me - and on the way to my in-laws house. I'll have to take a 'wander' by someday that is if it ever gets warm here again. Too bad my '31 can't use oneDave W

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
