Can anyone give me any ideas for "bobbing" the rear frame rails and adding a roll pan to my 32 3 window coupe?

I would like to eliminate the exposed tank and frame rail sections from the rear of my Gibbons bodied 32. I would presume the only option would be the installation of a fuel cell in the trunk 0 so much for the rumble seat idea.

Does anyone know of a pre-formed fiberglass piece to fill the area for this type of modification? Any pictures would help.

I have a 32 5w that is pro streeted. It had a small cell when I got it.I had a 15 gal. tank made that fit between the rails in the back.It has a lip at the top.It is even with the trunk floor like an older Mustang tank.

use cold rolled steel, durable, shapeable, cuttable and fairly cheap

I just can't bring myself to continue the project with the fuel tank protrusion out back

Did you know that steel gas tanks all have a 2 mil thickness of pure Silver inside the tank to ward off corrosion and leaks??

I did not know that but, I was not suggesting make the tank out of cold rolled steel, I was suggesting him to make the skid plate thing he wanted out of that instead of buying a pre fab fiberglass one, i figure it's cheaper and stronger.

Hello Rocks, welcome to CHR , I'm building a 32 3 Window also and in reference to your questions, if you bob the frame horns the tank has to go elsewhere. Most Rodders mount the in the trunk behind the seat , there are a lot of Tank mfg's out there that'll make a custom tank, normally the battery will go alongside the tank, average will be 8"d X21"h X 28" wide, this will give you 20gal, a friend of mine makes tanks and other streed rod parts you may want to check him out, http://www.kustomtanks.com/. his name is Cecil Pacetti in Ormond Beach Fl. he'll make it to you spec's , steel, alum. or S.S. , and does great work too. who's body are you using ? and where is Glenwood ? Rocks ; OOP'S a Gibbons body , I knew that , do you like it so far ? Gibbons also has a rolled pan available, as do other MFG's but some have to be modified, Downs also makes several , different depths. Still wondering where Glenwood is ?

I'm just about finished with my deuce roadster. I have a rolled fiberglass pan on the fiberglass body in hopes of one day having a quick change peeking out from under it. I used a Tanks, Inc 15 gallion tank that is available for $225.00 from Parr and a lot of other shops. It fits great behind the seat and still leaves a nice size trunk. I put a locking aluminum quick release gas filler on the deck behind the cockpit. I'd attached a picture or two if I knew how.
