I talked to Jerry Kennedy sunday before the awards. He said if you do not like the changes next year just write NSRA a letter. I asked what good would that do when they have been getting their butts chewed out ever since they anounced the change. He had no answer. We will see but I think they will be sorry. We used to go to the Hotrod nats and Car craft nats. They both were the younger crowds and they got ran out of every town that hosted them. Louisville cops get ready, Burnouts, Drunks, It was cool when we were young but it does not belong at the nationals. Time will tell.........

I went to the Street Machine Nationals back when they were fun too
Fast cars and loose women everywhere. The locals would drag the garden hose out to the street and encourage funny car burnouts. The Walmart parking lot in DuQuoin, IL used to be 6 inches deep in beer cans the morning after ....the whole parking lot!
I'm too old for that now. There are two things in life where penetration is really important.....and one of them is welding.

I did see that...I also saw you come by our booth ( I thought it was you....hoped you would have stopped)
We did not stay at the host hotel but were we stayed there was nothing like the shirts you guys have posted. We were at the Hilton Gardens. I am sure you guys saw more of the show then I did being in the building for 8 hours a day.
But I still think for the first few years when it is fresh for the tri-five guys and the muscle cars crowd the attendance will be up. Guess we will see.

I did see a guy in a 70's 4 door maverick and 24" spinners try and get in early on Saturday. They stopped him but there were a bunch of people around so I am sure they were buddies just seeing what would happen

I actually went up to your booth and asked for Iceburgh and the guy said
" WHO ? "
I said you are supposed to have a guy that goes by Iceburgh on the internet and then he said ... NOT HERE
Wish you would have spoken up ... if you saw me.
I would have bought you a Coke and a Diet Coke for myself
The new rules for the 30 year slide will be good for the vendors who sell " universal " stuff. But the vendors like Dick Spadaro, Cornhuskers and others who only sell pre - 48 stuff ... will not fare as well.
As a Lifetime NSRA member ... I fell cheated. I did not join a street machine association ...
I am stuck ...

I am in the same club and was in Louisville with the guy that had the Not Street Rodders Anymore T-shirts. He sold a total of 100 shirts and could have sold 500 more. In fact I was wearing one when one of the people selling NSRA event shirts in the South Wing approached me and said he'd had people ask if he knew where they were being sold. We had and NSRA official (blue & white shirt) come into out tent and ask if we wanted to buy some "no '80" shirts. He told us 20 NSRA officials and two of the Nat's host clubs were resigning after this year's events are over. I'm guessing 98% are against the change and 2% are for it. I'm not opposed to the change, but prefer a '65 or '72 cut-off, I'm opposed to the way Vernon Walker forced this down the members' throats. At least I have good memories and pictures of the 30+ NSRA Nat's I've attended. I enjoyed the 40th edition but was sad as I drove out of the fairgrounds Sunday for what will be my last time as a participant. I'll feel the same way when I leave what has been my favorite event of all for 25 years, Kalamazoo.

One more thing, one of the coolest sights at the Nat's is at the end of the day when there are 40 or 50 rods exiting the fairgrounds in all 3 lanes getting onto the expressway. It's hard to imagine that sight spoiled by 5-mph bumper laden '70's and '80's cars. Here are a couple more rumors I heard over the weekend; 1- Someone in Memphis is starting a new organization 2- Goodguys is looking into a Street Rod Only event. I heard #1 many times but #2 only once. Both would be great.
I think all street rod clubs in the US should organize street rod only regional rod runs throughout the country the same weekend as the Louisville Nat's. There may not be enough time to organize one national event but regional ones, especially if clubs work together and pool their resources for seed money I think it could be pulled off and have an effect on attendance in Louisville, the only way to make the NSRA sit up and take notice.

Wow! three lanes wide at exit!
Next year it will be the same, except that it will be three lanes wide of Pinto's, Vega's and Omni's!
Can't wait.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

That would have been Mike ( short guy dark hair) I flew in and did not get there until about 2:00 pm on Thursday.
Maybe next time.
How about that car in our booth (1935 Ford) really really nice....but I have to ask you guys an opinion onthis. You dont want newer cars there and there are good arguments as to why. But what about a car that people dont build and have 7 figures in and will not even start it. Just push on and push off the trailer. What are your thoughts on that?

Problem with this is not many will take the time to organize. Everyone will bitch but not many are willing to do anything. Ask anyone in any type of club....smae people do everything.
That is why I bailed a few years agao. You take the time to do everything and at the end of the day someone still bitches

The number of seven figure cars are so small, in comparsion to all the other vehicles ... the high dollar stuff does not bother me. I am glad folks like George Poteet and others have that kind of money to spend.
I enjoy driving mine ... and do so.
How and what another person does with his pre 49 is his or her business.
That's like the 32 3W you built.
NOT my cup of tea ... but I can still enjoy looking at it and the workmanship. It still looked like it could have been a 1932 Ford ... but modified.
Did you ever sell it ??
A friend of mine is looking to buy one built in the style you was built in
This little aluminum bodied hand built Model A was parked next to my 3W ... for a few days. It was hauled in on a trailer ( unloaded on the fairgrounds on Wedneday ). It does not run, nor does it have a tag or insurance. It is basically a PROP. Did not bother me ... because it looked like a old Ford and the owners were nice folks having a great time. They had been coming to Louisville since the big flood ... but this was the first time they ever had a vehicle inside the gates. He did tell me he was preregistered for 2010
