Wheels and tires
Hi Guys,
I am looking for some ideas on wheel and tyre sizes that people are running
on a '32 under the standard arches. Before you all go "not again" These are my problems here in the UK.
For the rear I will probably go with 235.75.15 on a 7inch rim, but what off set would work. There are so many wheels out there and it would be easy to get it wrong.
Then there is the front. I am using Jag front suspension (similar to mustang in set up) but I have few ideas for the fronts apart from 15s. The car will be driven around the sweet lanes of the UK so they must be sensible. I am keen to allude to the idea of the front tyres having a smaller radius than the rear.
So my other question is what size wheels and rim offset do people run under the arches on the front. ?
Oh - and I think you Americans may be spelling tyre wrong
Thanks for the help guys
Best wishes

I run P205X70R15's on the front of my '32. It depends on how low you want the front end to be. I would suggest cutting a couple of 3/4 inch plywood discs in the diameter of the front and rear tires you are considering, bolt them to your hubs, and see if it sits the way you want. You can block up the other side to hold it steady or cut two additional discs if you are ambitious and have the wood. Cut the front disc down to the next smallest tire's diameter if you think it is sitting to high and repeat if necessary.

I have 205/60R15's in the front and 255/60R17's Dunlop SP Sport 5000 in the rear on Billet Specialties GTX01 wheels. It is a '31 A roadster (see the avatar) but for all intent and purpose, the fenders (not 'wings') are the same as a '32.
The front TIRES are 24.7" diameter and the rears, 29.1 and fill in the wheel well very nicely.
As far as back spacing/offset - that depends on what fenders (if any) you are running. If none, then 3.5" is the norm - but, that depends on how close to the body/chassis you want the tires and of course, that depends on the differential and front suspension width, etc, etc, etc.

A wheel backspace of 3 3/4" on a 7" wheel looks good with a rear end width of 56" on a fendered 32. I don't remember the front wheel offset on my American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, but it is the standard offset that is offered. The front tire sizes that I found were most common are 205/60-15", 205/65-15", 205/70-14", and 205/75-14". The 56" width is the standard dimension for most 32 front ends. I don't know what the jag width dimension is. These front ends that are common here in the US put the splash apron very near the road surface. Be aware of this when choosing tire sizes. There is some adjustability here when selecting.
