Having an identity crisis
Recently traded into this 3w, but was unable to get an identity on the body manufacturer. Nicely done, straight, lots of steel and wood inner structure. The one feature that seems unique (to me) is the lack of a reveal over the windshield. It is over the doors unlike the outlaw version. If anyone can help identifying who built it, i'd appreciate it. In the meantime i'll just continue to de-billetize it.
Thanks, steve heller

Maybe Down's. Their 3 window didn't have the revel over the windshield.

I'd agree with Dan, one's I've seen that were claimed to be Downs had that same kinda "flat", squared off look about them.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

It is a Downs ...
Look at the rear window. Shaped NOTHING like my original Henry 32 3W ( shown below ). Even allowing for the chop ... the window is out of whack for a Ford. The reason is ... Downs used a 33/34 Chevrolet rear window. Downs made a good many 33/34 Chevrolet glass bodies before ever trying to do the 32 Ford 3W. They took the easy route and used a window shape they already had.
That little mistake ( IMHO ) aside ...
Downs did made a pretty nice body ... and most of the ones I have seen are holding up good.Last edited by Deuce; 12-29-2009 at 12:46 PM.

I was not aware that Downs copied Outlaw's body modifications. Hmm? You can always tell an Outlaw body as they have 1/2 inch more chop than all the other ones.Last edited by rumrumm; 12-30-2009 at 10:07 AM.

Nope, it's NOT a Downs. I have a Downs and my windshield looks nothing like the one pictured above. I have the reveal over the windshield..
I'm confused about the rear window comment. Mine looks very similar in shape to the other manufacturers windows which are chopped.
Regardless of who made it, it looks good!!

Well, it doesn't really matter ... does it ???
The coupe looks good ( to me ) and it must drive and run out good ( because you did buy it ). The manufacturer is really of little to no consequece.Going 33 and 1/3 rpms in a IPOD world

Measure the height of the side window and let us know the number. As I mentioned, Outlaw has more of a chop than other manufacturers.

Measure the height of the side window and let us know the number. As I mentioned, Outlaw has more of a chop than other manufacturers. We should be able to determine this by process of elimination.
