My special birthday gift
I’m a very lucky man to be married to such a wonderful wife. When it comes to picking the perfect gift, it amazes me how she pays attention to the little things I say and mention throughout the year. While strolling thru a few car show swap meets this year, particularly the Tampa NSRA Nats and the Daytona Turkey Run, I mentioned that I would love to find a Tennessee license plate from 1932 for our 3-window coupe project for when we move back to Tenn in a few years. Lo and behold, she tracked down a perfect survivor from 78 years ago, got it for a real bargain and surprised me with it this morning as one of the best birthday gifts I’ve received since the Richard Petty Driving Experience for my 50th birthday!!! Here is a pic of the plate.

Looks really good, Mike. I missed a pair of original, never issued '33 KS plates last night on eBay but this morning picked up a used one that may not be too bad. We'll see if it is good enough to use.... The 1933 KS plate is almost identical to your '32 TN in format and color!! Yours is in much better shape, and is so much more special since your wife surprised you with it.Last edited by rspears; 12-22-2010 at 10:13 AM.

Very cool gift, and even cooler that your Wife was able to pick up on you wanting one and going to the lengths to get one for you. Those are the kinds of presents that count.

Of all the folks I know in different interest groups, car hobby wives are the coolest.
Good score Mike.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Mike,
My plate came in the mail yesterday and while it's OK it came with a surprise - I had noticed an "extra" hole at the top, right at the edge of the "2", but did not ask about it before posting an initial bid. With the plate in hand it's pretty obvious it's a 22cal bullet hole I may try to patch it (don't have much in this one) but will probably go after a better one on evilBay.... Your wife did good!!Roger

A skip is a huge crate with chains on it at all four corners, the only way I know to shift it is to hire a Hiab. A Hiab is a small crane mounted at either end of a truck's tray...some pick up at...
