32 Ford Coupe Windshield Frame
Hi Guys Wanting to buy a chrome windshield frame. I have a 3 1/2 chop top. I know there are all kind of chops. How do you find the right frame to fit the windshield ? Also when i go to install it,how are they held in place ? Pictures of any frames on your coupes out there will help. Thanks

Is it a steel body with the 3½" chop or is it a fiberglass body from a reputable manufacturer? D&J makes windshield frames for the most common fiberglass 3 window coupe bodies, click here for their info.

I would just buy a regular, non-chopped windshield for your coupe and then CHOP IT to match your coupe Then have it chromed.
I buy mine from Trautwein when I need a repro. I had Advance rechrome the original one in my 32 coupe.

In repops I'm with Randy, have had a couple from Trautwein and they fit beautifully. At the time I got one for my Gibbon he made it to a template he had for the Gibbon, great fit. The one on my '36 roadster was a stock chopped to -2" which fit the 2" chopped stanchions exactly. If yours is a repop body he may have a template for that, ask.
As for attaching, on the glass 3 window we fabbed a header piece to attach stock repop hinges and make the windshield function like an origninal. Most folks will glue them in rather than go through the work..Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

If you're using one of the flat trim frames like Mike posted from D&J the 3M automotive acrylic plus attachment tape is a good product. 3M also has individual use packets of "Adhesion Promotor" which is 10parts acetone, one part glue which is for the final cleaning of both surfaces before applying the tape. If you don't spring for a packet of the adhesion promotor be sure to wipe it down really good with acetone first, and then put it in final position from the start - you cannot pull it back to shift it around once you touch the glass.Roger
