32 deuce - downs body - truck needs alignment

    Hello -
I have a 32 deuce, manufactured by Downs. The car is complete, and I recently purchased it. My rear truck rubs on one side. How do you align the trunk lid, - - - to the opening? The hinges look like there fixed. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Not sure about Downs, but on my N&N the holes in the hinge pads on the trunk lid are oversized, and there are captured nuts in the lid. You loosen the four (for me) bolts holding the two hinges to the trunk lid, and you can shift the lid front to back, side to side.

Thanks for responding. I don't have oversized holes, but I can see how it would work. I might try contacting "Downs" and see what they suggest.
    Thanks

    Mike,
Hey, I went out and looked at my trunk hinges and it was not exactly as I remembered My hinge pads are slotted to allow adjustment, and the nuts are fixed in the trunk. Could be a washer on the bolt may cover the slots so it is not readily evident that they shift. If not it would be pretty easy to slot the hinge pads, too. You can see in the picture that I drilled a pair of 1/16" alignment holes before I took mine off the first time, to facilitate getting it back in the right place easier.

Thanks for the picture. You gave me an idea, and will probably copy your
    design.
    Thanks

How do you post a photo? I'd love to show off my 32, but don't know how
    to post.

Scroll down and click on "Go Advanced." On that page, choose "Manage Attachments." Then click on "Add Files" and then upload a photo from either a website or your computer.

Very nice! How do you like the position of the B&M Quicksilver shifter? I have the same one from my Fairlane, that will be going into my 32 project.

Yes, I like the position of the B&M Quicksilver shifter in the center. I had to have the linkage professionally adjusted, and now its really SWEET ! My next project, before Xmas, is to swap out the 750cfm Summit carb (less than a 1000 miles on it), because its too much carb for my small block. I'm going, with what
    90% of the guys recommend - - - - a 600-625CFM Edelbrock. I hope Santa remembers my address !
