We had our 10th anniversary earlier this year. In that time we've gone thru a number of forward and backward times, but admittedly none this "bad". I suspect there's a general malaise in the country similar to what some of us old timers remember from the late 70s, coupled with the mini revolt over the forum software/configuration change and this is the result. We built it from nothing 10 years ago, and can probably do it again, but as then it will take patience and persistence....................if those that remain active to whatever degree are willing to do it.............myself included.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I haven't been here as long as Uncle Bob but I have been here long enough to survive a couple of the other revolutions that CHR lived thru and I intend to stay on. People come and go on forums for a variety of reasons, CHR is no different. I've joined and lost interest in 3 or 4 others forums over the years as I'm sure most people have. I'm not a computer guy, so I've never let the changes in the format bother me as I don't have any more then the most basic understanding of what it takes to run a forum. What I do know is that Brent only does what he feels is best for the forum and I go along with it. If I don't understand how or why something works on here I've never had any difficulty finding someone to help me through it. I've been accused of looking at things on too simple of a level, but I see participation in this or any other forum to be quite simple, if you're not part of the solution, then you must be part of the problem.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I've just been lurking for a bit, while my New Age Motorsport Coupe is still in the waiting stages. Ed told me that he should be starting my car after the new year. He had 3 ahead of me and a bunch of headers to do. In the meantime, I will post some pictures of my 521 (stroked 460) that will be going in. My Sanderson Jaysters should be here any day now, so I will post a picture when I bolt them on. I will be a posting fool once we get the car going.New Age Motorsports 32 5/W 521/C6

I seem to go in spurts. Like most here, I still work a 40 hour plus week and sometimes I just don’t have enough left over to engage in an intelligent conversation with the wife, much less on line.
I really do appreciate those who post here and continue to learn – especially on the technical side from those of you who build engines for a living. The numbers that people provide from simulation programs are helpful and I am continually amazed at the technology that we’re seeing in the head department. The introduction of CNC was fifty years ago and it just keeps improving along with the compute power that drives it. I remember reading technical articles from Zora Duntov in the sixties and thinking, “surely this is the ultimate small block Chevy!” Duntov would be smiling at the results from the current generation aluminum heads sitting on basically the same engine he worked with in the 1950’s.
I’ve always loved cars and this is, in my opinion, the best site to exchange ideas that have been proven with years of experience. I try and add my two cents where it makes sense but have to admit that there many here who leave me in the dust when it comes to the finer points on tuning and tweaking. I am always encouraged by the build threads and I like to see and hear about the innovative ideas people come up with in regard to scratch built components from consoles to suspension parts or “big-block Cadillac transplants performed by pretty girls!” I keep working on my little Nova (started it up last week! Yeah – she sounds real good) and I will drive it one day soon. Priorities shift and change and we just need to remember that the only thing that’s the “end-of-the-world” is well, the end-of-the world!
The interior and paint jobs shared by members here are off the chart – doesn’t matter if it’s a rat rod or a high end “built-to-sell”, I enjoy reading about the project and try and take something for “future reference” from most of them.
Equally enjoyable are the friendships and personal posts. Where else will you have people world-wide thinking about you and praying for you during heart surgery? I think we all love Dave’s granddaughters even though few of us have had the opportunity to actually meet them. I plan road trips with CHR folks in mind and look forward to coffee with people whom I consider friends long before we meet face-to-face.
So post when you can and know that in between those times we’ll be thinkin’ about you and hoping all is well with you hot rod, your dogs, your kids, etc. (not so much with the cats…)

I'm just in a down period financialy, but enjoy reading friends on here postings, whether about cars, pets or life, the good people here keep me checking in. I think the times are tough for a lot of us financially and, projects in this hobby are expensive, so we sort of put them on the back burner, or get distracted by the things that require our immediate attention. I stay on here to keep motivate, and learn as I go. I'm willing to weather it out for a while, at least until the truck gets done!Last edited by stovens; 12-07-2011 at 10:44 AM.
