There is no denying that it has slowed down quite a bit over the past several months. Not being negative, just honest as I see it. I keep checking back to see what's new and it seems the same threads are up unposted on. I am really sorry to see that too as this place used to be really hoppin'.
Every once in a while I will try to post some thread and it gets a fraction of the posts they did at one time, so I don't do it so much anymore. It just has a different feel somehow.

Hard to say what it is but it is the same for most of the hobbyist forum's that I visit. I would say that overall all posts are down 25-30% average just in the last couple of years. My guess is more than 50% on some forums.Bug

Burn out? Happens to everything, maybe everyone is in their happy room slinging wrenches, they sure as hell are not working no jobs. It will pick up again weather is cooling down and folks are running out of money. Is that your face or did your pants fall down?

Seems to be happening more than just here. I'm on a couple others that are way down also. I personally have been busy so I haven't been getting as much computer (internet) time lately.Last edited by pro70z28; 12-04-2011 at 07:08 PM.

I've just looked at several other forums that I either frequent or have had some passing interest in at one time or another. All of them are down in participation, either in sheer numbers of folks posting or the level of "quality". Without any statistics other then gut feel, if you are of working age (whatever that is now) you are busy trying to make ends meet - and that's more then just financial. Kids, relatives, jobs, homes, other interests are vying for your time. If you are retired/out of the work force and living on savings and Social Security - have you been to the grocery store lately? Put gas in your DD? Put a new roof on your home? Beyond expensive now and where does that leave your car hobby when it comes time to buy food vs. a new intake manifold.
If you want a wake up call, spend some time drilling through the numbers and back pages here, particularly the far right column: U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time
Yesterday, that proudly announced 8.6% unemployed - pure unadulterated BS. It's really about 18% (24MM divided by 140.6MM).
Wonder why it's slowDave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Same here everyone. Between the holidays and the taxes due. The weather turning cold. All there seems to be is eat sleep and work. The most exciting thing going on is our dog had to have surgery. His left testicle never fell. A few more days and he will be good. I think it will pick back up after the first of the year. Happy Holidays Everyone.
P.S. did any of you guys feel that as you were reading it.LOL

For me, had computer issues, fixed up my daughter's truck for senior pictures, basement flooded, 5 deaths since the 2nd week of November, wife had surgery, and too dang tired to get on. Doesn't mean not interested, just no energy. With that being said, I will start a new thread if I find the spot for it. My wife bought me an early birthday present.

Participation is down, not a lot of new builds going on right now...I'd hate to put up pics of my work, mostly electrical stuff getting the Plymouth finished and gone and I wouldn't want to bore everybody.... CHR has gone through changes and brought out the "us vs. them" posts, hate to see that happen but it does on most every forum from time to time.
When the holidays are over and folks have more time to get settled in to some serious shop time again it'll pick up on here like it always does. CHR has never been a huge forum with a gazillion new posts everyday, more of a forum composed of Hot Rodders and Racers looking to learn a bit more and share what they have learned. I'll be glad to see the negativity and hostility fade away and have the forum back on the really important issues in life, family, Hot Rods, and race cars!!!! I'm sure that CHR will eventually get back to being a group of enthusiasts sharing their love of anything with four wheels and people will leave all the hostilities at the front door.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
