Help with 32 Roadster Car Cover...
Afternoon all,
I have a 32 roadster and now I want a good cover for the garage and out at shows if I get caught in weather by surprise.
My question comes from talking to CA Car Cover folks saying that they recommend I send them actual dimensions of the car rather than their stock 32 roadster covers.
I dont really want the added expense if its not needed and I dont actually care if the cover "fits like a glove" since its use will mainly be garage use for dirt and dust control.
Any thoughts on going this extra mile for a truly custom fit or simply ordering the 32 roadster cover that I feel will me my needs?
Thanks for the help,
Red 32

Welcome Red32.. If you don't want to spend the money.. You have your answer right?!?! It's your money, you decide how it's spent. If it's good enough, then good enough!
Now that that's out of the way.. how about a picture (or two) of the duece?!?!

Hi Red32. I'm Yellow32. Welcome. About the cover, my perspective on a roadster cover is the same as yours. I have the best outdoor rated CA Cover on one of my other cars and it's a very nice piece and custom fitted to the mirrors, wing, etc. But for a '32 roadster, they offer options for fenders or fenderless and that's close enough for me, too.Nick

Hey 30_40 and Yellow...
Thanks for the confirmation guys!
Really going with my gut was the road chosen but it's always nice to hear from some other grey matter.
Guess they ( Ca Covers ) had me a little scared that their standard 32 Roadster cover wouldn't fit my ride at all?
Changed my Avatar to my roadster and posted it in the garage so have a look. When i get the time ( since I just got the car ) I'll post some better pic's.
Thanks a bunch!

Those guys have patterns for just about any combination that's any kind of "typical". Kinda sounds like you might have (intentionally or not) said something that triggered their "be careful on this one" senses. I'm thinking something like "will this blow off in the wind" or such. I've got two of their covers, one on the '30 highboy on deuce rails, and the other on the '36 roadster. Both fit very well, though the one on the '36 is a touch looser. When my wife ordered the '36 as a gift for me she just told them it had a 2" chop which they were set up to accommodate. Or maybe you called at break time and got the under trained receptionist who was filling in.....Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

X2.. thanks for the assumption on the grey matter!! My wife is also wondering if that's true!
I'll have to go over to the garage I guess... I've never been there (maybe once) and don't usually bother!

I used a California Car Cover off the shelf. Only problem were the side mirrors. Having no pockets for the mirrors caused the cover to wear where the mirrors were. Took the car & cover to my upholstery shop & for $60.00, he sewed in pockets for mirrors. It's not pretty but does the job.
My new garage is literally dust free so I hardly use the cover now. It's just the cotton lined cover for dust, not an outdoor cover.

I called Ca cover for my 50 Ply wagon. I wanted just a cover that would keep the dust off it while in the garage. They asked me a few questions and about 3 weeks later I got a cover that fit exactly.
To be honest, I was shocked that they had something that off the wall on file and made one that fit very well.
I would call them and ask about the different types they make. If you want one for just dust in the shop, that's one kind. If you want one that's is water repellant and for dust, that would probably be another model.

I have had two California Car Covers--one for my '29 roadster and one for my '32 coupe. Both were excellent fits. I wouldn't purchase a cover from any other company given the quality and fit CCC provides.
