engine which is almost ready is a 283 chevy with 3 dueces and the old solid lifter fueler cam in it from the 60's. 700r4 transmission is rebuilt and ready to be installed. 3.00 rear gears in the 9 inch. Decided to put in a 5" drop front axle in place of the 4" drop that came with it plus take a couple spring leaves out to get the front end dropped way down. Going with a mechanical latch on trunk and will be installing it today. Waiting for the exhaust hedders and steering column to arrive so I can run the steering linkage next.

Hey Gary,
Glad to see one of the best values in reproduction street rod rollers moving into Florida! I talked to Duane at N&N for a bit yesterday to get a tip on how he runs wires in the doors, and mentioned to him that you were posting a build thread here. He's that kind of guy, always ready to lend a hand or give a tip when asked. That second picture, where you say "...the 34 body on trailer is for sale now..." really had me going, as the focus of the picture is obviously a Deuce 3WC roller, but then I noticed the '33/34 firewall peeking out on the right! You've got quite a lineup of cars in the shop! Looking forward to watching your coupe come together. Thanks for posting!!Roger

Gary, having an N&N 3 window body myself, I'm interested in the rear roll pan you used. When I got my body from Duane, we discussed the roll pans but he wasn't a big fan of them. Who's rear pan did you use and how did it fit the N&N body initially?
Roger, the lineup of cars looks to be in Duane's main building at N&N, notice part of the N&N sign on the wall in the background. I'm sure Gary will correct me if I'm wrong.

yea, the photo inside shop is Duane's at N&N. Wanted photo of it as we picked it up and then second photo is as we parked in my driveway at home after the 17 hour drive home with it. lineup of cars I have done and are presently working on are on my web page at daytonagary.com
I don't like the fenderless 32 without a roll pan and Duane doesn't make one so I bought a roll pan from BeBops and it fit very well. Curvature of back fits N&N car perfectly, was about a half inch narrower (only a 1/4" each side) than N&N body and sides ran forward a little long into the wheel opening but didn't take much to make it fit perfectly. I had to do a little cutting on the roll pan to shorten the front on each side and used Duraglass to fill in the 1/4" on each side but it now blends perfect even inside the wheel well area and looks like it came out of Duane's mold that way. Duane said he will make a roll pan like I bought to fit his cars when he gets time to make a mold for it. I had taken this roll pan with me when I picked my car up so Duane could see how it fit his cars at his shop. Hope he makes them soon as one will go on every 32 I build. Going to put 1 inch by 8 inch tail lights down in the roll pan on this one.

Trunk latch went in and works great. Have to get a cable run up to it now and gas shocks to hold trunk open. Probably work on building some risers for the bucket seats today. Exhaust hedders and steering column arrived last week so i can get the engine and steering shaft in this week.

Nice project. I'd love to have a clean from the start project to build. Rust buckets take their toll! The frame alone is worth it! Looking forward to watching this build." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

What's the source for that type of trunk latch? It looks like a neat unit. I assume that the trunk lid has a pin with a cone shaped tip, like a hood latch?Roger

I bought it from Watson's Street Works Watson's StreetWorks
it does have spring loaded pin with a cone shaped tip. The big benefit of this one besides its small size is if your cable breaks it automatically unlocks itself which makes it great for a trunk. For hood use you would have to put a safety latch on it so the hood didn't fly up if your opening cable broke on you. It is originally off of a volkswagen according to the part number on it when I googled it. When I pull it out of the car I will write down the part number for you. The last time I did this I found a hood latch I liked and it ended up also being a volkswagen unit. I was able to find it on line from a VW dealer for $38 where the rod companies were charging over $70 for it. For use on a 32 trunk I had to make a pivot for the top pin since the 32 trunk doesn't come straight down in relation to the body and the pin didn't fall down in the hole in the proper place when it got near to closing. Just a little extra work.
