Route 66 21 day trip
left Daytona on a Wednesday and arrived back on a Tuesday evening 3 weeks later. To Chicago from Daytona Beach, out Route 66 to Santa Monica, CA then back to Daytona on I-10. only 1 1/2 hours of rain all the way. Had to adjust right rear spring height and fix a wire inside drivers door that came loose, that is all the trouble we had with car. 17 mpg and 6300 miles we arrived home. 32 Ford we built ourselves after starting with bare body and chassis from N&N Fiberglass. I bobbed the front and back of chassis, pinched the front frame of chassis and installed roll pan on rear of body after getting it. 283 Chevy with Duntov solid lifter Corvette Fuelie Cam replica from Lunati and 3 dueces backed up with 700R4 transmission.http://www.daytonagary.com

We did stay right on Route 66 roads all the way through from Chicago until we got into Texas some. At that point route 66 is nothing more than a frontage road running along Interstate 40 and you can see the same sights from the Interstate and have smoother roads. But went through all the small towns in Illinois and I believe there was less than 20 miles where we had to get on the Interstate highway all the through that state.http://www.daytonagary.com

Boy, a lot of familiar places. That is a great ride and it looks like you had a lot of exploring. Wish I would have known you were out there, we would have joined you for part of it.

Looks like a great trip. We did some in Illinois on the Power Tour this year, but it would be nice to drive the whole thing. We ran into some folks from New Zealand at the Dwight, Illinois station in your pics. They had driven from California on 66.
There's just nothing like a great American road trip!
BTW - Did you stand on the corner in Winslow, AZ?
Merry Christmas ya'll
