    32 chopped 5 window

Looking for the owner of a 32 Ford Coupe, chopped 4", painted 1955 Ford Victoria Purple. Car was sold in Stockton CA in 1961. I'm hoping the car was not scrapped. Any thoughts on searching for the vehicle? Thanks, AZJ

I doubt if anyone in California would scrap a chopped 32 Ford coupe unless it was crushed in an earthquke.

    I don't think it's still purple.

If you can get access to the DMV records you might be able to trace it if it stayed in the state. Those records won't be on a computer. They were kept on paper in filing cabinets and thrown into boxes when they were obsolete and may have been disposed of by now. I think the archives would be in Sacramento.

If it didn't belong to someone famous the history didn't matter to anyone who owned it since 61. I have no idea where any of my cars were in 1961. Not even the 40 pickup that my brother bought in 62. I could track down the guy he bought it from but he's either dead or to old to remember a $100 sale from 42 years ago.

My final thought is that without the serial number you wouldn't recognize it if you tripped over it. Your best bet would be to build a replica.

And to complicate matters I read a while back that there are more 32 coupes registered in Calif. than Henry ever produced........
