32 questions, battery cable & steering column

In a 32 frame, if I run my battery cable outside the frame and attach with adell clamps, how do I keep it from sagging?? Steering column........how desireable is a tilt, seems like everyone sets it once and leaves it?

run it in a peice of conduit, or use a lot of clamps. in my case the tilt is just a thing. i dont need it, its a mod.

I used #1 battery cable and it sags. But I don't look at it very much. I am going to fiddle with them this winter. I don't care for the way the lugs turned out. It is possible I will run them in some kind of tube.

After I got it all wired up the folks at Haywire said I could have gotten by with a #2.

My upholster said he cold hide a #2 but not a #1 under the door jam. If you are willing to cut the boxing plates you can run the cables inside. But pulling them is a trick.

I have a tilt wheel and it stays full down all the time. I considered a straight column but when I mocked up I did not like the angle and it would have required a longer column drop. The doors on my roadster have a 2" stretch and that makes entry much easier. But if I had regular sized doors the option of tilting up would be quite desireable.

Bottom line, I think I would do a mockup and see what works best for you.

I have a lot of construction pictures. E-Mail me if you are interested.

Mocking up the steering #1. I used a shaft from a junk column and a scab steering wheel of the correct diamiter. The wood block works like a bearing. At the floor end of the shaft I fixed a pin in the hole. Then I drilled a hole the size of the pin where I thought the column would pass through the firewall. The hole turned out to be right where I wanted it. But if I had made a mistake it would have been easy to fill.
