    Question Kilbourne Glass Bodies

Does anyone have experience with Kilbourne glass bodies. I have seen several in pictures but have not had a chance to hear anything first hand about them. I have a personal interest in a 5 window body but would like to hear thoughts on any bodies they offer.
    Thank You

I was unaware that Kilbourne was producing a 5w body.

How about some detals? Chop - firewall - hinges - cowl vent ?

They used to make them but discontinued a couple years ago. Don't know why. May still be some around in someone's inventory.

There is a 5 window on EBAY right now (1 day left). It is a 5 window but the ad says both 3 and 5.....the guy must be covering all bases. The seller probably wouldn't tell the bad stuff about the body tho.

    Kilbourne bodies

I make Topsters, the hideaway soft top frames for roadsters, and we've sold a few to guys who have Kilbourne bodies. As far as I know they've worked fine, but we have to make them diferent from "regular" bodies because a few of Kilbourne's measurements are out , at least on their roadster. One in particular is the width of the body - it's 2" narrower than a stock roadster for some reason. I sent an email to Kilbourne asking them about this but didn't hear anything back. Personally I can't think of any reason to do that. Other than that I don't know much about them cuz I'm from the west coast and I've never knowingly seen one out here.

    Here ya go Delaney,
I don't have any experience, or know of anyone who does, with these folks, but it's another lead for you to research.
    www.russnomorestreetrods.com

Positive notes are that they use bronze inserts in the hinges, and go to the extra detail of ribs in the firewall and floor. The door fit in the pictures looks suspect, but then it could be that the gelcoat is just a different shade, or someone tried to "enhance" the picture digitally and made the door gaps/shading a bit funky. Anyway, happy hunting.

I do have first hand info on kilborne. My friend build one of their roadsters last year and it turned out awesome.I just took delivery (about three weeks ago)of one of their three window coupes. So far so good,I like all the steel they use in their bodies.Have the body pretty much blocked down and am just waiting to take delivery on my frame.Looks like it will be a busy winter here in Ohio.

I have a Show Me Rod and Custom http://www.showmerodandcustom.com/ body on my 32 roadster. I am very pleased. Price wise they are in the same catagory as Kilborne. Doug White, the owner, is a straight shooter.

A gent in my club has a Kiliborne bodied roadster. It is very solid and the owner has good things to say about it (picture).

My friend Darwin is starting a glass 32 five window this week for a customer. I'll try to go buy and get some pictures.

    Mine...

    My Roadster is a Kilbourne...

I am very happy with mine, really like the way they designed the metal inner support structure... I have talked to the guys at Kilbourne a few times and they have been very helpfull and always happy to answer any questions I have had...

I would definately consider owning another...

I noticed the name of that picture is fredsummers - Would that car belong to a man named Fred Summers?

Yes indeed. Fred lives just South of Paragould. Friend of yours to? Fred is a hard core car guy.

I am think he may be a guy that grew up with my dad -

Ask him if he grew up in Benton Illinois. He is about 65-ish?
