Hi all, I am an import enthusiast in every respect, something of a rarity here in the South. Although, I admit, most imports seen on the road are by all means ricers, with the bodykits, vinyl plastered all over their car, etc, and are stock on the inside. This said, I have only the intention of defending my pasttime and hobby, which is equally beloved as yours, and obviously misrepresented on this forum. I am a college student, and all of my scarce money goes into my ride. My car is not only not a ricer, but exactly the opposite. I own a 1992 Nissan 240SX, which comes with about 140 HP stock. However, seeing this as obviously not acceptable, I've taken the creative route. My new powerplant is an R34 Skyline GT-R twin turbo V-6, with about 280 horses stock. After upgrading turbos, fuel injectors, and a few other mods, I run 11.09 with about 420 horses, and ream nearly every car around, whether it be any generation Mustang, Camaro (my good friend has a 91 Z28, and he's given up; no contest), Eclipse, Honda, whatever. Also, the outside of my car is stock, except for new black wheels, to complete my blacked-out theme. And since we're going for the stereotype thing here, let me say that it is every "rice grinder's", like myself, privilage to send Billy-Bob Redneck and his gas-guzzling tank home crying to his sister, or (female) cousin, or whoever is at home and feels like, ah, consoling him in one way or another. I only registered on this forum to rattle this off, and if you are offended, well, deal with it. For my daily driver, I have a 1987 Chevy C10 Silverado with the 5.7L 350, also lightly modded (headers and K&N Filter, plus audio), that I love and also dominate with, and admittedly devour other "wind up toys." So, a vicious cycle I suppose, but all in good fun, so think carefully next time before judging someone on their selected outlet for that oh-so unquenchable need for speed.

If you're trying to support Chevy's compact efforts, opt for the new Cobalt, just my two cents and I hear the supercharged SS version is pretty nasty (for a domestic).

O.K. ..... O.K., Against my better judgment I'll bite. I've seen some purdy' fast Cavliers @ the track. They are the body style of choice for many many pro stockers. And they are faster than 11 sec.

Whaaaat...if we're talking Pro Stock then imports have certainly held their own, what with AEM's 7-second Civic, and a Honda no less, especially a Civic! No, I think my little guy suits me just fine.

As I stated previously ,,,,,,, no disrespect intended for anyone ! I really do not care what you drive as long as you enjoy it , that is what matters most . I enjoy all aspects of our hobby or sport . I think discussion rather than mud flinging is productive .

The thing that only get's me is ricers will talk crap and tell me that my old cars that I like can't take turns like their jap cars. Well wouldn't you think that if I wanted to take turns fast that I would not put big tires on the rear of my really heavy coupe? Also, it's not like I will be racing a ricer on a race course or nothing even if I had one so no point of trying to lower it so much and doing all this crap that won't get used. In a way with what I just said I don't agree with myself because I know that kids just want to have bragging rights and say they have upgraded suspension, etc and I understand but oh well. I don't have a problem with a ricer, I have came to understand where some of the kids that are into them come from. How about lets see something like a 1929 T bucket do some DRIFTING anyone???!!!! Hahaha.

Im a bad man i run on both sides of the track. I have both rods and imports. My daily driver civic with a homemade (aka junk yard) turbo kit ran a 12.7 which isnt fast at all but its pretty quick.

But i think I want to put it under the knife and shoe horn a small block into it.

The ideals behind the Cavalier build are several.

1 Price and availability of good used ones (No self respecting hot rodder does car payments :0 )

2 Price and availability of haul-ass parts

3 It's still a Chevy. And it'll be built to eat imports.

You want to drift in a domestic? piece of cake. 4 easy steps. 1)get speed 2)hit e-brake 3)turn wheel desired direction 4)release e-brake and punch it. And yes, it becomes very easy with 4-wheel double viscous. I actually controll my Whole car, not just the front half

There is a nice compact for you to race.

I always wanted to get an old 1600cc car and squeeze as much horsepower as i can out of it n/a strip the inside and make it weigh about 1500lbs. Plaster a big 1600ccNA sticker on the back window and go out and smoke someone.

IMHO, The first sport compact was a Chevy V8 Vega but I'm biased.

Hey, I had a '72 Vega once. It was stock I'm afraid tho. It was purdy' fast if I had a mile or so to wind 'er up. HEHEHE

I knew a guy in Portland indiana had about the hottest Mustang I've ever seen. If I remember right he ran 1/4 in 8.9 seconds. This car was incredible, looked incredible, and sounded incredible. It had a 347 in it. I'd put it again just about any Eclipse, 240, 300z, 350z, or anything else coming from over seas in a 1/4 mile
