How Much Do Gears Help???!!
well i got another big Q... well i got a 1950 chevy pickup.. that is now 60 lbs shy of 4000 lbs... lol.. i know i know.. alot of that has to do with my system.. but anyways.. i have stock 2.73 gears from the good ol el camino subframe and rear end and i have a set of 4.10 gears that im soon going to be puting in.. drive train starts with a pretty much stock 283.. bored out .60 over.. and recently added was a 700r4 transmission, hurst Q stick shifter, holley contender intake and holley 600 cft vac secondary carb, and headers. when the engine was completely stock.. manifolds th400 tranny , and original 2bbl carb.. it ran 18.13 second quarter ( yes i know )... when i added the carb and intake, i could instantly tell the differance. next addition was the headers and the 700r4 tranny.. ive had the tranny in for about a week and the first gear in the 700's is amazing.. haha i can roast them off like none other now... but the second gear is a hog.. takes forever.. but i dunno yet, im going to bring it to the track tomorrow to see what times it is now (still not too much to brag about) but when i get my times up after the races... then can you people tell me how much a differance the step from the 2.73 gears to the 4.10 gears is gonna make.??? if anyone can help me out here that would be great..!!

nice looking truck tim_bo16 the 4:10 will make a big dif. but i dont know how much. i have the 4: 10 with the 700r4 and its a good gear for the road. im not crazy about the 700r4 but i like the over-drive. thats a lot of wt. for the 283. 16 wouldnt be bad. let us know how you did.
