4.88's to 3.73
everyone seems to be upgrading to stepper gears, on my set up 488's seem alittle to wild for a big block so im going down a couple notches to 373's. hp and torq prety much dies at about 6000 and with the th350 I should be able to at least finish the 1/4 mile with the 373. Any big block guys running the same set up?

isn't that ass-backwards?
Why would you want highway gears for drag racing?

not when you have 3 gears and you would max out 3/4 of the way down the 1/4 mile...

he was probably wanting the 4.88's u r taking out.
flipper
a steeper gear helps you launch and accelerate faster yes. but if you are maxxed out on the redline at 1/8th mile you are just taking a chance on blowing your motor before you hit the traps on a 1/4 mile track. . you want to just reach max speed before you hit the traps.
also you also have to take in tire size when you are factoring all of this stuff in. those huge slicks take alot of that tall gear out of it. sometimes you can buy a smaller or larger tire and = a gear ratio cahnge.
hope this helpsdont compromize customize
boost is a substitute for cubic inches
I tried rubber isolators between the frame and pump, but it made little difference. I don't mind spinning the motor over to refill the carb(s), it allows time to build oil pressure, jmho..
