    Drag racing world championship…

Hey I just saw that the PRO RWD NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing World Championship will be held at the world's largest drag racing event, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, on Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 - Sept. 5, at Indianapolis Raceway Park. Anybody want to take a friendly bet on who will win it?

hey man dont laugh at those sport compacts. they are making big power and going fast doing it. drag racing is hp to weight ratio vs traction. ci makes it easier but it doesnt mean it s better.

a guy took a gm ecotec 2.2l 4 popper and drove it from cali to bonneville / made a 200 mph pass and drove it back to cali. had over 800 .streetable hp from that puppy!! in the same article a guy bought a $ 50,000 small block roush racing motor and a custom built tube chasis and COULD NOT get pass the 200 mph barrier and he trailered his rod to the salt flats.

in a nutshell it might not be your thing, which is fine. but dont disrespect them

I'd put my money on Paul Efantis in Pro Outlaw RWD, and Arsnian in Pro Compact.
Is Lisa Kubo still racing in Pro FWD? Haven't heard much about her lately.

Not my thing, but you got to give them credit. They do infact have the cars running some fast times. The ones I have seen are true race cars. No neon lights, fart cans, or trailer steps mounted on the trunk. Some pretty nice set ups. The fun part is the parking lot after the race. Watching some honda with three wings and neon try to smoke the front tires, then watching leo take a couple hundred dollars from same drivers collage fund. LOL It does get interesting.

I don't have a HUGE problem with Sport-Compacts (Ricers), just the ones whose dad's didn't warn them like my Father did me by telling me "the biggest thing about racing is not jumping into a race your car can't possibly win". I did have to give to the boy in a 92-94 300zx twin turbo, he tried Really hard but his turbos couldn't spool as fast as his mouth could run!
-Sorry guys its all in fun!

sounds like he got what he deserved. You should have taken some of his money as well. then the lesson would really stick with him lol.

Alot of the late model muscle cars are out of financial reach for alot of people today. I have seen cudas and chevelle ss go for 100,000 on barret jackson .

so that leaves the tuner market as the only thing available to alot of people. I hate the glow lights and boom boom stereos as well but some of those guys are seriously making some hp with thier toys.

thats all i am trying to say.

Racing a SCP (ricer) is kind of like fighting a girl. If you win you can't brag about it, but if you lose you better not let your friends find out.

that saying is soooo true. as for the ricer scene making hp, I don't know the facts on it but bottom like is hp costs $ period! these ricer punks spend enough $ to buy a 70 GS Stage 1 or what ever. the $ they throw at these cars is what I call stupid $. every body has there own thing, mine is the Buick Grand Nationals, where else can you spend $1,000 (less if you buy used parts) on a bone stock vehicle drive it to the track (get 23+mpg) run mid 11's & drive it home? but hey like I said that is my thing.

I think you would be surprised how cheap you can build a "ricer." Its kind of like everything else you can spend as much money as you want. Its all about horsepower to weight. Most imports don't need 3 or 4 hundred HP.

Case it point I have a friend with a civic I think it weighs around 2000lb he has a b22 engine which makes (I am guesstomating) 250 to 275 HP. The little bugger is quick. No big wing no fancy paint. And It was done cheap.

I love the buick GNs and back when they were new you could have thrown 1k at them and made them fast. Almost everyone one that I know that has modded them have a pile of dough in them. The blocks are weak and can't handle a lot of boost. Plus they are Expensive to pick up
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. "

where did you get this information? yes you can spend a pile of $ on them I have about $5200 in my engine inc. turbo to run 10's & not even pushing it. but I know some guys running bone stock un opened motors in the 10's is it safe no it can let loose any time. as for the blocks being weak, that they can not hold up under boost, I run 30-32 psi on my motors (stock is about 15psi), in the last 7 years running these cars I have never damaged a block, or blown a head gasket. I did 1 time spin a bearing but that was @ 21psi, oil pump went out.
