Lt1s10, that's an impressive record! Do you have a Saleen now or were you a Pro-driver? Occasionally I see a late model Saleen here in Ashland with a young girl driving it to/from the grocery store!!!!!! (Food Lion) If I had a Saleen I wouldn't have enough money for the grocery store let alone park it in with the other cars in a grocery store parking lot! There are plenty of fast cars that come out at special events in this area, but a Saleen as a grocery-getter had me scratching my head!

Saleen
2003 Saleen S7 3.3 11.8, dont take long to get the grocerys with that.
the 3.3 is the 0 to 60 time and the 11.8 is the 1/4 mile time.

I gotta step in here from my personal experience with 2 chevy nova 6cyls.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing i can say, get a cheap daily driver if the nova is in that position right now. Its a PAIN trying to soup up a daily driver! lol.
1st
1972 Chevy nova sedan (2765lbs) on 215/60/15s in back (super sticky softies)
The car had
250 c.i. inline 6, stock, 3spd manual (on the tree) That thing would FRY tires with 3.65 (i think) gearing, but i never got to really get out and get on it..lol.
The 2nd
1970 chevy nova (also a stripper, 2803lbs)
It had
230 i6, 2spd powerglide, 2.73 (argued to be 2.76 gearing), 195/75/14 tires in back. ALL stock.
The thing was slow as hell. My stock 95 dodge neon could rape it. easy. The stock inline 6 in the lightest ran like high 19s. They toyed around with TURBO 6cyls (a turbo camaro, a twin turbo nova) and they only ran mid-low 16s. 50-70mph went from a stock 12.5seconds to 5.3 seconds though.
Anyways.
I thought the car was quick for its time/engine, and i live in orlando, 60% of the civics/integras here are DOHC V-tecs and turbod/NOS equipped. And trust me, if they have any clue how to drive (even shifiting too early/late, missing shifts.) the 6cyl powerglide nova will get eaten all to hell. for starters 150hp isn't SHIT lol, and the 220 ft/lbs is at like 2200rpm..which is WAY low..My 70 couldn't get off the line without spinning, but it pulled like a dog.
So what did I do?
Swapped a TURBO350..worked well, for 2 days, the 6cyl blew.
In goes a 305 from a 83 caprice. Popped on a 700cfm Rochester qjet from a late 70s caddi bbc, full length headers, did away will the computer and the excess vaccuum. No powersteering, A/C, no heater/defroster, with open pipes i had good high end, NOTHING for low end though. With mufflers on I got a nice boost of low end, and the topend was a little tamer. a week later the TURBO 350 blew up. So in goes the powerglide. Off the line on dry pavement you have to be turning and at about 2000rpm to break the tires loose. On wet, you don't move from the line, just sit smoking the tires heh. BUT. It's still not anywhere NEAR the 14 second range. I've raced a few cars. and i've won most of the races, but I think if I also raced my friends souped up 5.0 stang. he absolutely slaughtered me. So i'm guessing I run low to mid 16s. 150hp, 240ftlbs. Add maybe 5hp for headers.
I'm not tryin to make ya pissed or discouraged, but 13s require alot more work than most people think.
I'm only 21 and pay 3/4 of my monthly pay in bills, childsupport, etc etc..so yeah..going cheap is good, but with my $100 worth of junkyard parts..i'm still only about .2 seconds quicker. You should get a posi rear end, 3.55 is good for a daily driver, decent pull, but not too much that it isn't highway friendly.
P.S. with the powerglide and stock rearend behind the 350 you'll be able to pull from a 60mph roll (probably at about 2000rpm+) like a son of a bitch! lol. So if you really wanna race..(i don't condone street racing..heh) take it on the high way late at night (2am or so) and race some guys from 60..you got a MUCH better chance!)

Email me at DallasHannah3@aol.com, we seem to be in the same boat, so we should share information on parts and whatnot so neither one of us go down a bad path lol.

I see the taurus SHO runs a 17 (92 or 93 model i think) but is that the v8 model or the v6 model? I know the V8s are dogs, from what i hear a v6 SHO will completely embarass a v8 SHO.

Oh, and SuperNova68, what kinda exhaust is on that 6cyl right now? If you got a loud exhaust it'll seem much faster than if you got a quiet exhaust. I never believed it till i did the v8 swap in my nova and changed added 18" of length onto my exhaust setup..seems like its much slower, but really it's the same speed, just cuz it's quite it seems like it's sluggish. I guess those civics and eclipses must seem REALLY fast to the kids driving them. lofl.
Also, you wanna get rid of the inline 6? I'm in need of one. For my new project. hehe

if you really have 475 HP and your car with you in it wt. 3400 lbs. then you should run in the low 11's at 125 mph. thats hooking up and having the right gear.Mike

If your wife has a friend that annoys you don't tell your wife to stop being friends with her. Just casually mention how pretty she is... .
