Ant body remember this old gasser ???
The Mr. Crude C/Gas Anglia
I am sure the car ran in G\Gas, not C\G as stated. It ran a 6 cyl. engine and I think it was ran by Rydell, Hope and Lang. It won best engineered award at the Indy drags one year (at least I'm pretty sure it did anyways) as it had two Chevy V8 heads cut in half and welded back together and made to fit the 6cyl.(to make it a crossflow type system). I also think the car held the national record in it's class.
Thanks, Dave (an old Canadian drag racing fan.)

HW, I ran in H/Gas in the late '60's with a GMC powered '39 Chev, and you're correct that sixes should be in G or H class. Here's a link to an article that does a good job of defining class rules for the period; http://www.gassermadness.com/Gas_Classes/index.htm
You'll note in the definitions for 1965 rules it talks about stock head configuration being one of the factors. It could be with the modified head you described it bumped them into C/Gas based on displacement/weight.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

Man your buddy bought that? That is sweet! I love gassers, I think it would be awesome to build one and race that. Do they do these classes still at most big dragstrips or are they a one time in a blue moon kind of thing at some special event, etc?www.streamlineautocare.com

Awesome thanks for the site. Now is that for all over the US I am guessing? Also for a gasser, would a 29 Ford HI Boy with no fenders count and a 302? Would that fit into a class or would it have to run a 6 and have fenders, etc? I read that page and skipped some stuff but from what I read it said it had to have lights, full stock fenders, etc.... I will read that site too and see what I get. THANKS!
Oh and what is the reason for the front end being high? I understand or though that they move the wheelbase back a few inches in the front, is this why or is it to help weight distribution to the back tires? Now I was looking at some old 29-32 5 window coupes like the 29 I plan to buy here after christmas and to get it lifted high in the front they had Radir 17 inch wheels in the front and 15's in the back. The 12 spoked 17's in front I am talking about. Then when the guy put it on the street I guess he ran the plain Radir 5 spokes in 15 inch on the front....Last edited by FMXhellraiser; 12-01-2005 at 01:30 PM.

Yeah I just read that site too like the rules and regs and looks like the front end on this 29 wouldn't qualify. Not like it's a big deal since it's not going to be a race car or nothing I am just saying. The 29 has a MII front end which I absolutely do not like but that can be changed later on. I have just always liked the gasser cars and the style with them, etc.www.streamlineautocare.com
