I don't think an M-22 would handle the torque for very long, scooter.
Hey Mike, we have a small little IHRA track here, they'd let ya run!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

PG as in Power Glide???? No way, Mike!!! But hey, would it become a "handicapped accessible" drag car if I put an air shifter on it????? My pal and fellow Ford Racer Roger was picking on me yesterday that maybe I was getting too old for a 5 speed!!!! Told him when I was too crippled to pull that handle he could just as well take me out back and shoot me!!! Would be a sure sign that life as I know it is over!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Not just yet, Mike. I gotta make a few passes in the Ranchero, then there's that trip to Bonneville for a run or two down the salt. Then we can just park our rocking chairs on the front porch and have a "been there, done that" discussion!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Trust me, Mike. Checkers or wreckers is not the best approach to circle burning!!!! I'd probably be in a lot better shape today if I wouldn't have thought second place was just the first loser!!!!!!!!
Heck, if I had it all to do over again........I'd probably do it the same way!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave, just like you I like to row my own. My supercharged Gen III is going to have 600 to 625 Ft/torque and I'm going with the T-56 for a couple reasons. First, with the torque listing at D&D, this is the torque rating as used in the Viper. The aftermarket support for these transmissions are excellent. And with things like carbonfiber blocker rings, etc., I have no doubt the trans will live.
Second, with a double overdrive, the fuel economy will be greatly improved. I plan on driving mine on a semi-regular basis on long trips (Hot Rod Power Tour, a Route 66 trip, etc.). Any savings on gas I can get is a great bonus.---Tom

I looked at them, Tom. Even contacted one or two of the companies that make them. My big concern is that the Ranchero is going to be primarily a drag car with slicks. Though there torque ratings are at what the motor will be producing, it leaves little room. I'm concerned that the max effort passes and hi RPM launches with slicks would kill it. On the street, I think it will be the ideal transmission. The big overdrive will make for some pleasant and trouble free cruising. And, I keeping looking at the BDS site and their 10 71 blower setup for the big block Ford!!!! Should I decide to eventually update to that kind of torque numbers in an engine, the T-56 would be way overpowered. I do have all the specs and the phone number should I change my mind and decide to be on the street more. Thanks for the input. Really anxious to hear how yours works out, that power tour stuff looks like it would be a blast!!!! Maybe I should just leave the racing to the kids and join up.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
