M/T Indy Profile SS
I am looking at buying a pair of Mickey Thompson Indy Profle SS tires for the back of my car. Do you guys have any opinions about the tires. They are non-radial tires, is that a real big deal?

I haven't ran a set of them for a bunch of years, hopefully they've made the compound softer because they didn't hook at all... Took a looooong burnout to get enough heat in them to get them to hook.
If you have radials on the front it would be a big deal with bias on the back. Have you looked at the Hoosier Street Radials?? They are a lot more money but they hook up fairly good. The old standard BF Goodrich Radial TA's are available in some fairly wide sizes, and hook up fairly well, too.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

They claim that these tires hook up good without the long burn out so i am guessing that they have changed the tire a little bit. I guess what i am really looking for is a fairly large (275 60 15) with raised white letters. I really like the look of the M/T but the bias-ply concerns me. Is there a noticable difference between bias-ply and radials?

Yes, there is a large difference in bias and radial ply. BFG and Goodyear both make street radials in the 275/60 sizes. It's been my experience that a radial tire will hook up a bit better, handle a LOT better, and last considerably longer then a bias ply tire.
Just checked Summit, here is another option, they have this tire in sizes up to 295/60 X15

Thank you for the reply. I do like the BFG's. They are considerably cheaper than the M/T. The one thing that i dont like about the Yokohama's is that the letters are only outlined. But it still is a sharp looking tire. I guess it would be smart to stay away from bias-ply tires.

Yup, I would say so, too. I grew up with bias tires and will always remember how poor they are compared to a good radial....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
