$.56 to 5.13 i,d say for an average bracket car. I ran a 391 with 26 in. tall slicks ant car ran consistent 12s Changed to 4.57s and ran out of motor in last 200 feet and had to pedal. no better time . channged to 30 in. slicks and put car in high 11s Sometimes gear changes work better with a specific tire size . If you use 2 much gear you can compensate with taller tires if you have enough convertor to stay in your power in the 60 ft.Youre not living till youre burning rubber

Im running the 4:57 gears with 33" tires. When i cross the line im turning at 6300 RPM. When i drop back down to my 32" tires, I was crossing the line at 6700 RPM. The only time i use the 32" tires is if i know the track is really going to hook up hard, the smaller tire gives me a better hole shot. ( 2 speed powerglide) My engine will still pull at that RPM, But i just prefer to keep the RPM's down to help save engine.

When you run a tiny little motor, you need really big gears . . .Jack
