racing with an auto trans
I have always owned manual trans. At the track it was easy, just rev the engine and pop the clutch. This is my first auto trans and I do not know what is necessary to get the car off the line. Is there a front wheel line lock system ? Just a novice at autos.

I think Hurst marketed the first Line Loc, a solenoid arrangement to hold pressure in the front brake lines for doing burnouts and/or to prevent rolling out of the beams at the line.
More serious racers with higher stall converters use a transmission brake that locks the transmission in 2 gears at the same time while the motor is revved up against the converter for launch.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

I don't have the book infront of me but I think I read that the NHRA dosen't allow line locks to be used at the line only for burn outs??

I think the non use of line lock on starting line pertains to specific class racing butt not all like TEC-1 said if you run a TRANS-BRAKE you only use the line lock for your burn out.I run at a NHRA track and I use my line lock button like a trans-brake button with a little practice once you find that sweet spot you can cut some pretty good lights.I think thats what CFFISHER was trying to get at about the use of line lock on starting line.

HAY forgot to mention dont no what stall converter your running (ETC) but just thought Id mention a good quality tranny cooler is a good investment and will help out with more consistant ET's.not to mention tranny/converter will live a lot longer.put one on my car and helped my 60ft times.
