"not looking to spend a bunch of cash to comply with rules@ the track"
Those rules @ the track are not to bleed you dry of your cash ,they are there to make sure you are safe and have a better chance of going home that evening.
Do you plan on racing it at the dragstrip a lot ,or a daily driver for work and groceries?Last edited by BigTruckDriver; 05-11-2006 at 01:41 PM.

weekend toy..has 12/1 comp ,4000stall & 4.57s w/go to strip now & then...I put the battery in the trunk & now realize (20 years later)that I'll need to get a box, disconnect switch etc..If it'll be a big hassle I can take it out when at the track

Depending on the ET you run, the safety equipment requirements change. I'm sure Techinspector (NHRA Tech) will be along to give you some answers.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

down to an 11.60 you don't need any safty equipment other than factory safty equipment, but if it's modefied from stock I'v heard some tracks will make you wear a fire suite and a couple other things, still no extra safty additions to the car I don't think. Techinspector 1 would be able to clear it all up for you.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Certified helmet at 13.99
Driveshaft loop within 6" of the front joint at 13.99 with slicks, 11.49 with street tires.
Minimum 5-point roll bar at 11.49
There are many other rules to go by, far too many to be addressed here. My best suggestion is to go to Jegs or Summit and buy a rulebook. Then ask specific questions.
If you can sit still and read for a while, this is good info for you, about the re-located battery in particular.....

more work lies ahead
Thats a LOT of good info I can use..
My ride has been sitting since '86 so...
I AM going to need a few upgrades..mostly minor ie: overflow bottle, new wheel studs, neutral safety switch, etc
I DO want it to be 100% when I make it to the track & my major concern was that even though the car wont see much into the 12's let alone 11.99
I didnt want to be flunked for a decorative roll bar thats not good to <11.99
...Its sat for 20 years so another couple weeks wont matter THAT much.
Thanks again,
Bob
