bad nite racing
so i had a bad night racing last night.... i was in my mustang racing this camaro... and i'm gettin on it hard and tearin past him no problem.... and next thing you know my engine sounds like a rev limiter is kicking on.... and then a screeching sound.... coupla pops and it dies..... starter locks... so i stick it in nuetral and try and push it and nothing happens.... so i got it towed home... today i assesed the damage.... transmission is locked up.... all the main bearings spun, and my ring gear is shredded..... i took my tranny to my tranny guy... and as far as he could tell and put two and two together.... the input shaft jumped forward and slammed into the rear of the crank and then blasted back out the tailhousing of the tranny... so it looks like i'm starting back from square one on my car....just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

if i was racing and blew the motor up, tore the trans up, and the rear end too, i'd let it chill for awhile. with luck like that i'd be scared to ever drive again.Mike

My teacher had a 396 BB in a Nova drag car he had ( street legal tho ), just got the motor finished, with a forged rotating assembly. had it for about a week when he wanted to go just a bit faster, and blew it up, right after that, he put the factory 6cyl back in it and turned it into a shop vehicle, for the shop he owned at the time, still registered to him, it had the shop name and they did small road service calls with it ( jump starts, tire changes ect... )You don't know what you've got til it's gone
