I love it when the track is unpredictable, because it opens the door for the cars that usually have a slight disadvantage. Great racing! :-)

NHRA made it big time so i guess they had the right idea.
They are doing the same thing in P/S Bike right now!

I thought Tim Richard's comment at the end of the Top Fuel final was interesting, a 134* track acting like a 100* track. Jim Dunn's explanation also made a lot of sense. Instead of over powering the track they were under powering.

The thing that I could not understand is why Vandergrif chose the right lane in the final, they had made 3 good runs A--->B in the left lane and Bernstein had gone up in smoke twice in the right lane. I think I would have stayed in the left lane where I knew what worked and put Brandon over in the lane where they had been having trouble all day!

I was really pulling for Captain Chaos in Pro Stock, he was running and driving so good. Nice to see the underdogs get a shot

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Jim Heads resurgence is kinda neat. In the past he always seemed to 'innovate' himself right out of contention. Looks like he might make the chase or countdown or whatever it is now.

Did you guys see the Bud King shake BB's head around like a ball in a mariachi rattle during his first pedal fest? That had to hurt.

And Jason Line, oh what a difference a year makes huh?

It's good to see somebody(s) challenging Anderson and Line, Pro Stock was getting boring.

The Jeg's car, and team mate Connoly, seem to be challenging for the throne now!

It's amazed me that 2 cars can be so dominant in a class that is separated by hundredths of a second. It seems that if Anderson was running 6.80's and someone got close he'd run a 6.78. I know he's good, but that always seemed a little fishy to me. I think they ought to go back to banging shifts.

Yup, been there done that!!!!! I'll guarantee you he still has a nasty headache and some very sore neck muscles today... When it happens to ya, just keep pointing at the track in the middle!!!!!

Gotta go get some aspirin, got a headache just thinking about it!!!!

Check out the pics on the net,They are running an event at Kingdon Dragway in Lodi (was closed back in the 70's) check out the pics from last year! A large crowd was on hand too!

Force didn't start out with mega bucks, he worked his way into sponsorship.

I remember the Force truck driver struggling days. He went to a bunch of finals before finally winning. If memory serves his only sponsor was a local coca-cola bottling company and his first FC national event win was in canada.

Force raced his "Brute Force" cars here in Tucson in the '70s and '80s. I liked the logo he had on the side! :-)

As for ruining the sport...No Way!

Things will always change, some for the better and some not, but there is still no greater spectator sport than drag racing. For a few buck you can spend the better part of a day watching demon fast cars, see some pretty girls and drink a few beers. No other sport I know lets you get so close to the action or interact with the drivers like drag racing.

I loved it back in the 60’s and I still love it today and one day when then my dependents are grown and out the door, I hope to be on the track myself. (three children = no time or money for racing! )
