Need some info about my race car
Purchased this race car a few years back and I need help finding what type of car it is, what year, things like that. More pics avaliable. It has a 302 chevy motor that was built to race against ford back in the late 60's early 70's. That is about how much I know.

Did a little quick research and from your pictures it appears to be a Mclaren M8D
probally 1970 vintage as the earlier ones had a much taller wing....

The problem is I've looked over the entire car and no numbers at all. No plaque no nothing. The engine I had to rebuild. Left in the rain for who knows how long. What went in the engine. How to rebuild the carbs and the block but everything is running strong now. Do you know how much hp the motor has??? Just wondering. But the more info I need the better and also how much does one of these cars go for btw. Thanx

Since your car has a long tail I would expect that it was set up for a high speed course. Gather up all of the information that you have on the car like decals, race number, and engine size and start looking for a collector that has old programs from events like the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona. Pictures of similar cars should give you a time frame to look for.
Good luck with it. You've got a keeper.

I'm really not sure what this car is, maybe one of the marauder cars?

Now I'm thinking this is some sort of SCCA or IMSA club racer. The aerodynamic design looks a little more modern than the Can Am cars of yesterday and I would expect more corrosion/damage to the car if it was of 60's-70's vintage especially considering the way in which it is stored.

I'm with F.N.G.
That tail section looks to moderen for a 60'-70's can-am car.
I was looking at the scca cars and looks to be like a LMP car of some sort to me.

Hey Batalia, very nice car. Never have been much into the road race stuff, but I do know of a coulple guys who might be able to help you out. Ben Jones (Ben's Race Car Parts) in Bellaire, TX is and old SCCA club racer. Joe Halliday (J&H Engineering) a very well respected SCCA wrench from about the same era as your car. Both are in the Houston, Tx. area. Wish I could supply you with phone numbers, but I have lost touch with both of them over the years. Good luck on your search.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

The Chevy 302 was originally developed to meet certain "class rules" for engine size. I think that was in the Trans Am series cars of late 60's early 70's though.
It was something like a 327 with a 283 crank? Not particularly anymore desirable or had more "potential" than any other Chevy small block. The engine was just given the "max" treatment with high compression, big valves, radical cam, carbs, etc. A similarly equipped 327 or 350 would have made even more horse power.
The Ford "Boss" 302 of the that era used the 351 heads, but only for a year or two. The heads were SO big they had to run the motor close to 7000 rpm to take advantage of the "flow" characteristics of the heads. This high rpm during a "race" led to a LOT of "blown motors" and the heads were discontinued.
