Harmonic Balancers
Hi all, just wanted to see what some other peaple out there where running on your hot-rod.In the past I have installed fluiddamper products on race ingines with good luck. Now even Jeg's and Summit sell (SFI 18-1)balancers for a little less cash, like to hear if any body has tride any of these balancers.I will never sacrafice safty to save a few bucks but befor NHRA made it manditory some years ago to have the (SFI 18-1 Balancers) I aswell as some of the rest of you out thier where going 11's and low 10's with (OEM balancers) Is it really all about safty or sponsership money?.

As long as it has the SFI stamp, decal, or certificate I wouldn't be too concerned. It it's good enough for the tech guys at NHRA, it's good enough for me!!!! Heck, when they first came out they were around 400 bucks!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

OEM balancers will not hold up well under extended high RPM conditions, or at least they say they don't. I know many that run them with no problems. Will and Kelly Mclearen( Kelly is the driver ) run a rebuilt OEM balancer on there '63 Falcon with a Turbocharged 250 I6, which does 11.85 in the 1/4 mile, and races regularly. for my Turbocharged 200 I6 '67 Falcon, I bought a new factory reproduction OEM balancer ( it's a Scott Drake reproduction ), grantid, I do not know how it will hold up yet, cause it's not running yet, but I'm shure it will do fine. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
