    Take my wallet

Iv been racing or around racing for some 24years now, started out in cars till it got to expensive for me bad devorce ETC.I have raced Dragbikes since I was 16 so I followed that path for a few years because their's less "BS" involved than with a car.requierments/SNELL-SFI helmet/Boots/Gloves/ leather jaket/long-pants,Thats up to 120mph to go faster you need full leathers. Now with a car you need roll-bar/cage OK thats fine but new window net/Harness and a few other ods and ins every 2-3 years just to go 10.00-10.99.ever say kids to day are soft,we never wore a helmet when we rode bikes, most of us rode mini bikes/dirt bikes with no helmet. What's next put (SFI Air Bag's in your race car)Im not trying to influince any one in any way shape or form so if you read this please follow all NHRA rules to the (T) IM just a ARMY DESERT-STORM VET voicing my opinion.Thay tell kids not to street-race yet thay make it so expensive a kid working at the local burger joint dont stand a chance.$10-$15dollers to grudge race is grate it's all the other stuff.well Ill get off my soap box now like to hear what you think.

well, think of it this way, you wreck a bike at 120 MPH, it's gonna hurt/ probably break somthing at least, there is no possible way to impliment any more safty equipment into a bike, other than helmet, jacket, gloves and leathers, but with a car, you can have much more ( cages, racing harnesses, neck braces ect... ), and in most cases, drivers come out ok, or not hurt that bad even in bad wrecks. not to mention the cost of the equipment/ parts needed to make a car pass 11 seconds, is expensive. can go 11.60 or slower with what safty equipment came on the car and a Snell/ SFI helmet. to go 10.99 I think all that is needed is a driveshaft loop ( along with factory safty equipment ), and 10s needs things like a cage, not shure tho. but really, going any faster than 12s is somthing that is out of reach for many people.

Well, it's been the same argument for ever about the price of drag racing on the street vs on the street... I've done my share of racing at both venues. The strip is always the safest and as compared to getting caught street racing just once it's probably cheaper to be legit.... Last ticket I got was for 135 in a 55 while trying to settle the age old argument of Mustang vs. Corvette....This was better then 10 years ago, even then it cost me in excess of $1500.00, my license for a year, increased insurance rates (like triple what I had been paying) for 5 years, another $500.00 in attorney's fees, and a couple hundred more in court costs.... Trust me, far more then it cost me to buy a set of SFI current belts and a whole years worth of admission to Sat. night grudge racing at Thunder Valley..... My understanding is that the same offense today would cost a bunch more, and probably my car, too.... I don't like having to pay money to go racing, but I guess it's better then the alternative......

As much as I used to indulge in the off colored "Activities", I have kids that are aware of these adrenilin rushes so I abstain from talking about them and make the threats, so on and so forth. It just isn't worth the hassle of the attornies, court costs and loss of priviledges. Let alone the prospective clients and employers that look at it and say "Hmmmm........No way! I can't take the chance with my insurance company and I don't feel you're responsible enough, so on and so forth".

Sorry I may have miss lead you all their at the end got on a roll, not comparing cost of street racing vs Drags at track.you can have all the high tec safty equipment your class requiers and still make stupid mastakes.I see peaple Not in cars warming them up/working on running ingines with arm-restaints dangling the list gos on and on.Yes dragracing is dangeraus but peaple that don't pay attention have made it expensive.you can get your arm torn off with a new arm restraint just as fast as a old one.by the way in OHIO first offense 12 points plus fines no questions asked.

Sometimes they don't sell them, they crush them so they will never be raced again.....

HERE Is the law in California. It does not specifically say a car can or will be crushed but it does state that it "may be forfeited upon conviction". I guess once the car has been forfeited they can do what ever they want with it. I have read where they had crushed some cars, once in front of the offender.....
