track times
Heres my car an 77 camaro full weight (3700lbs).355 11.1 trw forged pistons # L2304,gm steel crank, X rods,erson solid cam 250/258@.050 with 565 lift on both sides on a 109 lsa,dart iron eagle platinum heads 200cc un touched,1.5 rrs,vic jr,750 quickfuel carb on a 2" spacer,hei,3000 stall(that only footbrakes to 2500),th350,4.10 gears,28x10 hoosier slicks(too big).
Here is what it ran first time out (best)1.85 60',5.28 330',8.12 660' @ 86.82 mph.Yes thats in the 1/8th mile.
Does this sound about right for my combonation?Does anyone know of a calculator that will tell me my horsepower figures for that time with that weight? What does this equal to in the 1/4 mile?I think my 60' is bad but thats the best it would do.I have NO traction problem it s just slow off the line.I think I need atleast a 3500 stall but this one was supposed to be a 3000 and its no where near that. Its a TCI.Im pretty sure it will run 7.9s if the 60' was better.
Any input is greatly appreciated. And any hints to cut those tenths too....

If everything is correct I would think it should run in the 7.50 to 7.60 area.

Run with Erik's idea...I wouldn't hesitate going deeper on gears. Maybe a 4.88 and possibly 1 step lower maybe. What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

If you only run the 1/8 mile I wouldn't hesitate to go up to around a 620 gear and the 4500 stall
However if you street drive it any the setup you have is probably pretty street strong

^^^ yes... way shorter gear for 1/8th mile (I was thinking 5.30).
Here is a calculator:
http://www.eldemoniorojo.com/calculator.htm
There are many and some use different algorithms. I found one page that had three different algorithms so I plugged in my weight mph and et and found the one that had matching hp for the mph and et calculator.
Just google: MPH HP ET calculator... and you will find many.
Looks like you're somewhere around 360-370HP to the pavement and would be about 12.70 @ 108 mph in the quarter mile.

3700 lbs .. you need to lose weight.. thats the cheapest way to cut times .. take the steel braces out of the bumpers .. every 100 lbs is worth a 10th i think .. 1.85 is a decent 60 footer but 1.6 or so will amplify to about twice on the top end .. speed is good for your times so you def have good top end .. in other words you mite run 7.8 and only pic up 3 or 4 mph ..iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

I think a 6.20 gear and a 28 inch tall tire may be a little much.

Thanks for everyones input.I thought I needed more stall and a little more gear and yall have confirmed that.I need to put her on a diet but without gutting it.She still has the origanal seats. It came with no a/c only heater.I could try taking some of the bumper supports out and do away with the bumper shocks with some lighter weight brackets. It also has power windows but I kind of like that, its nice to sit in the lanes with both windows cracked and still be able to roll both up quickly while belted in,it gets damn hot here in texas.
I dont have skinny front runners on yet either but I dont know if that would cut any ET off.I also have a nos 1/2" plate under the carb.I havent run nitrous yet but a fellow racer said his plate slowed him down 1/10th of a second when running on motor alone from what it ran without the plate.Have any of you seen this happen?Next time out Im going to take off the plate just to check.I also run a 2" spacer and I may take it off to see if its huting things.Do you think that if I left from a dead idle and stomped the gas that the converter would flash higher than footbraking it off the line? Also what about valve lash,my cam card says to set both on .023.Could I play with that a nd find anymore lower end power? And would a performer RPM air gap intake add any et with more low end than the vic jr I am running? Thanks again for your help.

Also guys I am scared of this converter issue.I dont want to overdue it and buy a converter that seems to slip all the way down the track but I also need one that will footbrake to 3000-3500.I ran a cheap Boss hogg converter on my ole 69 nova and it was a 3000 stall and it would footbrake to 3000.But it didnt last very long and something internal broke.I then bought an expensive TCI 3000 stall (the same one I am running in my 77 camaro) and the car slowed down almost 2 tenths. Are there any name brands that anyone could recommend?
