Twin Turbo Drag Avanti, Studebaker powered!
Check out the Avanti that Ted Harbit (Chicken Hawk, Plain Brown Wrapper, Stude Tomato fame) is building:

He knows how to make a Studebaker run, can't wait to see this one
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

That looks awesome.
In 1966 one of my class mates in photography school had a plain jane Studebaker Lark with the Paxton supercharger Avanti V-8 in it.
He would p!ss off a lot of Mustang guys with it. The guy had such skinny arms yet he could shift alot faster than anybody I ever met.
That Lark was a real sleeper.
Was that Paxton supercharger a turbo?
I love the Studebakers from the 1950 Champion that my dad had and those mid '50s used in the Bonneyville speed runs. They had some smooth lines.
Thanks for the link.

Very neat Stude!!!! Really great to see another car hit the track with something different!!!! Someone you know, Pat??? Looks like he really knows his way around a car!!! Always have loved the styling of the Avanti's, in their day they were totally different then what the others were building and still stand out today!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!

I only know him by reputation. Ted is the guy who drives the '63 Studebaker Lark in the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags similar to the one Tow'd mentioned. That car has the limited production R3 supercharged motor in it and has run in the mid 12s on street tires through the mufflers. ANd those are not drag radials, but period correct tires. Remember this is a '63, that's before the GTO and the other muscle cars came on the scene. Ted also has a 51 Bullet nose called the Chicken Hawk that he used to dominate NHRA Stock classes with until they changed the rules. He has since turbo charged it and it screams, that is his basis for the Avanti, something a little lighter and more aero. Ted is no spring chicken himself, he is well into his 60s.
And I agree Dave, something different is cool. A 1200 hp BBC is just another 1200 hp BBC

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

Ted is a class act and a real true honest to goodness good guy.
He will bend over backwards to help a Stude guy go faster.
Incredible reaction times (almost 50 years of non-stop drag racing helps!)

As a footnote...
Ted was an honoree at last summers NHRA Hot Rod Reunion!

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
