Bug-In
Just got home from teching VW's at the Bug-In. The quality of the cars was pretty impressive. I'll have to say that as a group, they were as nice as I've ever teched.
Met fellow CHR board member John Palmer in the tech line. It's good to put a face with a name.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

No, I was a little disappointed that there were no Pro Mods. Lots of 9 and 10 second cars though.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

First let me say to Richard (Techinspector1), the tech inspection at Phoenix this year was by far the most detailed we have been through in the past 8 to 10 years of racing at NHRA tracks in Ca, Co, Nv, Az. Please don't get me wrong........"as a dad" that wrenches on a car driven by "my son"......it's exactly what I would expect at a NHRA track..........but seldom see. It's good to know that someone "that cares" has given it his expert eye and said it's good to go. You were very observant and detailed and you get my many THANKS.
I didn't mean to scare you when I asked if you "hang out" on Club Hot Rod? LOL It's funny that we seldom get to put names and faces together. It was good to meet you.
We had three mid eight second Pro Mods Sunday and a six second dragster but I think they all were in the other tech lane. Not bad for some fifty year old designed four cyc VW's.
It looks to me like the economy is going to be a factor this season as the car count was down at this event. One of our race friends from Sacramento said that they will have spent over $700. on diesel fuel by the time they get back home from Phoenix.
Thanks again

Shame on me Joe. I have a Nikon D50 with 300mm telephoto lens and didn't even think about taking it with me. I'll take it next race and post some pictures.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Surprisingly, some VW Dragsters are in the 6 second/210 mph range now, and yes that is in the 1/4 mile.
If you want to see some impressive video's of VWs in action, you can either head over to<www.oceanstreetvideo.com> or <www.vintageperformance.com> and check a few out, you might be surprised...
And don't let "Pappy Palmer" fool you... he can hole shot and run with the best of 'em...
(Yes, John, I remember that DKP Cruise when you were driving....)
