Nitro bike reborn
Well today was a pivital moment in our search to start this damn harley. We drained the 94% nitro mix and switched to straight methanol, as recomended by Jerry and, finally got a hold of my dad. He he a repeat advice that jerry gave me. The bike would only slightly start to kick over but would not run. We burned up a deisel starter in the process. In my sleeping state last night (some of my best thoughts happen there).
I wondered how old the primer can fuel was he brought over, HE SAID 2 YEARS. I dropped to my knees and said are you kidding me. Well I got fresh fuel in the primer can today and it fired right up, and purred like an angry panther. We warmed it up, switched back to the nitro mix, and it was really mad then. We are now officially ready for the track. Now if it would stop raining and get over 50 degrees on the weekends. All in all it was a great afternoon.
Live everyday like it were your last, someday it will be.

Yeh---you need to practice starting and warming it up several times before you go to the track!!!!!!
And are you going to run 94% on the first pass??????

LOL......You have to feel sorry for the neighbors that live next to "any drag racer's"! And Yes, my neighbors hate me also.

We are planning to head to Moroco U.S.41 this sunday, weather permitting for a practice day. Then again the following weekend. Jerry I am telling him to cut it back to at least 60 to 70% on the first pass or two, just to get back into the swing. Its been 18 months since hes made a pass on anything. But hes pretty stuborn about it, I will in the end hopefuly win this small battle. (first of many to come). Hes a new dad this year, and I told him he would not be a good dad without a head. The first actual race day is the 3rd week of May in Nashville TN. All our points races will be out of state this year.
And ya Dave the nieghbors have been expecting to see it run down the street you can bet that. They are not at all surprised to hear loud obnocious noises coming from my garage, There were 10 people choking in my driveway, I called them wussies because they would not come in the garage. All the men in the subdivision (most I dont even know) make it by a couple times a year to druel and wish thier wifes were as understanding as mine. So guys this is the time to yell thanks to your spouses right now. I even had a man and his wife looking at my dragster once and she looked at him and said, Dont ever think you will have something like this. POOR GUY !
And John the white stuff is what we now call Indiana white grass, a cross between Kentucky blue and Alaskan white.Last edited by mooneye777; 04-16-2008 at 04:46 PM.

If you have been running higher % of nitro cutting back to 60-70 may be too far--but 85-88% and a 3/4 pass for a plug check before the full pass on 90+%
Good luck, maybe we'll see you somewhere as we're helping with a NHRA comp elim BA/A dodge neon that we're trying to get in the 6s and over 200mph
