Nitro bike reborn
Well today was a pivital moment in our search to start this damn harley. We drained the 94% nitro mix and switched to straight methanol, as recomended by Jerry and, finally got a hold of my dad. He he a repeat advice that jerry gave me. The bike would only slightly start to kick over but would not run. We burned up a deisel starter in the process. In my sleeping state last night (some of my best thoughts happen there).
I wondered how old the primer can fuel was he brought over, HE SAID 2 YEARS. I dropped to my knees and said are you kidding me. Well I got fresh fuel in the primer can today and it fired right up, and purred like an angry panther. We warmed it up, switched back to the nitro mix, and it was really mad then. We are now officially ready for the track. Now if it would stop raining and get over 50 degrees on the weekends. All in all it was a great afternoon.
Live everyday like it were your last, someday it will be.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
